Brittany expressed her gratitude earnestly, "Once Isaac is stable, I'll personally swing by your place to say thanks."
Jolin didn't really need the thank you. She took on this case purely for Isaac's sake.
They'd been friends for years, and doing this small favor was no biggie.
"Ms. Dustin, once this is all sorted, don't hesitate to give me a ring if you need anything." Jolin left her contact details.
Brittany took the card and something popped into her mind, "Lawyer Jolin, how did you find out Patrina was pregnant at the police station?"
She had tried to dig it up herself but came up empty-handed.
Of course, Jolin couldn't spill that Isaac had been her secret helper. She just gave a sly smile, "Trade secret. If I want to find something out, you bet I'll find it. Ms. Dustin, catch you later."
Jolin headed downstairs where a black car was waiting outside the hospital.
It was Wesley's car.
She hopped into the passenger seat, "Case is closed. Isaac's in the hospital. Aren't you going to pay him a visit?"
Wesley held the steering wheel tightly, "Thanks for all your help."
She had given up a big case for this one and lost quite a bit.
Jolin chuckled lightly, "Let's go. Wasn't dinner on you?"
Wesley started the car, "Eat whatever. It's my treat."
When Isaac was wheeled out, he was already asleep.
Wesley took care of the aftermath, notified Nathan, and left. Only Brittany was left in the room.
Brittany wheeled the chair closer to Isaac.
He had lost some weight recently. Although he was asleep, his features were still sharp. His messy hair softened his sharp look and made him look more laid-back.
Brittany felt a chill when she thought about if the dagger had been a bit higher, Isaac could've been hurt much worse.
She reached out, gently touching his cheek. After a moment, she whispered, "Poor thing."
She heard the door open and in came Hannah.
"Bri, how's Mr. Salter doing?"
Why didn't Robert value Brittany, who was such a precious resource, but was always nitpicking her instead?
There must be a reason he couldn't resist.
"I don't know either."
Brittany had been wondering since she was a kid why other people's fathers were so gentle while her own father was always sarcastic towards her.
Every time she faced difficulty, Robert never once defended her and was always the first to mock her.
"Bri, I'm starting to suspect you might not be his biological daughter." As soon as Hannah said this, she realized she was wrong and immediately apologized, "I'm sorry, Bri. I didn't mean it."
Brittany was stunned. She had never considered this possibility.
Not because she trusted Robert, but because she knew her mother would never be unfaithful.
Exactly because of this, every time Robert gave her a hard time and hurt her, she realized more and more how unfit he was as a father.
For the first time, she started to doubt.
Was Robert really her father? If he was, why did he treat her like this? She rubbed her face hard. Hannah was right; the most urgent thing right now was waiting for Isaac to wake up.
