Patrina was completely spent. She collapsed before the defendant's dock with her head smacking the edge and leaving a trail of blood down her cheek.
Gianna was torn apart, shoving Robert away, "Robert, have you lost your mind? This is your daughter!"
Patrina leaned into Gianna, pressing a hand to her bleeding forehead, the sticky blood seeping through her fingers, her eyes filled with confusion, "You hit me?"
She had always been the apple of Robert's eye, but this time, he had laid hands on her in front of everyone!
Robert couldn't meet her gaze. She had spoken out of turn. She had it coming!
"What did Robert say?"
Brittany stared at Patrina, wanting to know what she had said that scared Robert so much. What didn't he want her to know?
Caught up in the moment, Patrina blurted out, "Brittany, you can dream on about ever finding out!"
She laughed coldly. Even if she was going to jail, so what? Brittany was just a fatherless kid who didn't even know who her dad was!
"Well then, enjoy the next twelve years."
Brittany's voice seemed to emanate from hell, wiping the smirk off Patrina's face. Before she could react, she was hauled off!
Gianna watched Patrina being taken away and charged at Brittany.
It was all her fault! She had ruined Patrina!
She grabbed a knife from somewhere and lunged at Brittany.
Pandemonium erupted.
The sound of a knife piercing flesh, Donna Dustin's scream, and the blaring police sirens filled the room.
“Zac!!”
Brittany was pulled into a man's embrace, followed by a grunt.
He'd been stabbed in the back. Gianna was stunned and her hand trembled as she released the knife. He held Brittany by the waist as blood trickled down his back.
Wesley from the stand rushed over, kicking Gianna away, and shouted, "What are you waiting for? Arrest her!"
The police stormed in and restrained Gianna.
Brittany turned around in a daze, instinctively clutching Isaac, "Zakky, your back."
She hadn't expected Gianna to assault someone in court. She certainly hadn't expected Isaac to take the hit for her.
Isaac was relieved to see her unharmed and was thankful he'd come to court. Otherwise, it would've been Brittany who got hurt.
She'd known Isaac for many years and had many interactions with him.
But this was the first time she'd seen this side of him. He was so down-to-earth. She cleared her throat awkwardly and looked away.
Brittany didn't move. Isaac let go of her hand, his voice trembling, "Bri."
Brittany frowned, "We'll talk when you're better."
Jolin was still there, and so were the doctors and nurses. She couldn't bring herself to do such an embarrassing thing.
Isaac leaned into her, his face pitiful. Jolin was beside herself; her eyes were about to pop out.
Brittany couldn’t deal with it anymore, so she bowed her head and pecked his chin, "Happy now?"
Isaac was rushed into the ER at the hospital. Jolin poured her a cup of water, "Gianna's been apprehended by the police; are you going to press charges?"
"She assaulted someone in public; it's only right to press charges."
Brittany truly hadn't expected Gianna to go to such lengths for Patrina. If it weren't illegal, she would've applauded and praised her for her maternal love.
Jolin sighed, "I don't need to handle Gianna's case. She attacked Isaac in broad daylight; the evidence is irrefutable."
"Lawyer Jolin, thank you for handling this case."
