The Best Revenge It Wasn't Even Your Child novel Chapter 92

The next moment, a warm sensation brushed her neck.

Lance’s lips, cool and soft, pressed against her skin. He kissed her, hard enough to leave a mark.

A jolt of tingling heat raced down her spine. It was like all the blood had drained from her body, leaving her mind blank and her body frozen.

Almost no one knew Lance had this thing for leaving hickeys.

Back when they were secretly married, she never let him leave any traces on her neck. He would just make his mark somewhere else—her chest, her shoulder, her collarbone.

Her skin was so fair, every red mark stood out, dark and vivid, making her look even more tempting.

It took only a few seconds for a cluster of hickeys to appear on her neck.

Lance finally let her go. His lips glistened, his eyes cold and unreadable, but deep down she could sense a storm swirling there.

Catherine raised her hand to cover her neck. Her eyes glistened, like they were swimming with tears, but she met his gaze anyway.

“Tell him you’re seeing someone,” Lance said.

So this was his way of helping her.

But this kind of help… It was just… too much.

Adelina was right there in the bedroom, only a door away.

This was not the solution Lance should have come up with.

Catherine’s brows drew together as she looked down, lost for words.

“What is it?” Lance’s fingers pinched her chin, tilting her head up until she had no choice but to look at him. “You don’t want to turn him down? Is that why you’re so desperate to quit your job? So you can be with Gavin out in the open?”

He could see she was trying to keep her distance from Gavin, but her sudden resignation didn’t make any sense to him.

To Lance, the only explanation was Gavin.

The pressure on her chin was almost painful. Her eyes started to sting with tears.

“I know my place. I’m not some poor girl dreaming I’ll wake up a princess.”

The words sounded strangely familiar, even to her.

Lance’s brows drew together. He went silent for a few seconds before letting her go. “Don’t let it happen again.”

He meant her skipping work to go shopping with Gavin.

Catherine suddenly understood. This was probably Gavin’s idea all along.
