The Best Revenge It Wasn't Even Your Child novel Chapter 449

“What’s it to you?”

Belinda grabbed her purse, getting to her feet. “Aaron, if you care about your future at all, you’d better keep this under wraps. Don’t tell a soul, not even Lance. Otherwise… trust me, I have plenty of ways to get you out of SilverLeaf Industries. Not even Lance could save you.”

She spun on her heel and walked away.

Lance had protected Catherine from Belinda before, but now Aaron couldn’t shake the feeling that if things really fell apart, Lance might just stand back and let Belinda fire him.

He frowned, caught in a mess of hesitation and worry…

Still torn, he decided not to say anything to Lance just yet. Instead, he told his team to keep digging and make sure they got solid proof this time…

It felt like Lance was everywhere in Catherine’s life, always lurking somewhere on the edges.

But it was never him in person, never a real confrontation.

Catherine was honestly a little numb to it by now.

Still, no matter how much she tried to ignore it, she knew deep down that things wouldn’t really settle until she found a father for the child she was carrying.

She was pushing Jasper’s stroller back home, lost in thought.

When the stroller suddenly stopped, she realized she’d zoned out.

Gavin was crouching in front of Jasper, handing him a little rubber duck, grinning as Jasper giggled with delight.

“Where do you even get all these toys?”

Every time Catherine passed by with Jasper and ran into Gavin, he always seemed to have some new toy on hand.

Gavin ruffled Jasper’s hair and stood up, looking at her. “I bought a whole box of these for my future godson. If you keep waiting, this little guy’s going to end up with all of them.”

“Even if I did have another baby, they’d be too little to play with these. You might as well just give the rest to Jasper.”

Catherine pushed the stroller to the bottom of the steps and sat down, ending up right at Jasper’s level.

Jasper was busy, completely absorbed in his new duck.

She loved and hated with her whole heart, which made her act on impulse way too often.

“Are you busy tonight?” Gavin asked, changing the subject when he noticed she looked down at the mention of Lance.

Catherine shook her head. “Not really.”

“My dad wants me to go to this dinner for some big business client. I just stopped by to see you on the way.” Gavin scratched his head and gave her a sheepish smile. “You know I’m terrible at these things. Will you come with me? We’ll just say hi and go.”

Dinners like that usually meant drinking, and Catherine was pregnant. Not exactly a good idea.

She was about to turn him down when she remembered how much Gavin had helped her with the whole Amanda mess.

Maybe this was her chance to return the favor.

“Alright, but only if we agree to just say hello and leave after.”

Gavin’s face lit up. “Of course. You’re pregnant. I wouldn’t let you overdo it.”
