The Best Revenge It Wasn't Even Your Child novel Chapter 446

“As if I’d ever let her get the upper hand,” Belinda snapped. “Relax. I’ll crush any hope she has left. She won’t have anything on Lance once I’m done.”

To Belinda, Catherine’s only leverage over Lance was the baby she was carrying. All Adelina needed to do was stir the pot a little. Catherine would be the only one hurt by it, and Adelina would come out on top. If things went as planned, there wouldn’t just be no chance for Catherine and Lance. They might even turn into enemies.

Catherine’s hospital bag was almost ready, and for the last few days she hadn’t left her apartment complex at all. She was deep into her third trimester now, her belly finally showing, adding a gentle softness to her look.

Lorinda had told her she should move around more—said it would make the delivery easier. So Catherine took it upon herself to take Jasper to the park every morning after breakfast, letting him get some fresh air while she walked.

She never imagined she’d run into Belinda in the courtyard.

Belinda sat on a bench, watching her approach with an unreadable expression. When her eyes landed on Catherine’s belly, there was a sharpness in her gaze that left no doubt—Belinda was here for her.

Jasper sat in his stroller, waving his little hands like he was conducting an orchestra.

“Catherine, I think you’re a smart woman,” Belinda said, rising to her feet. She held a black crocodile leather purse, looking every inch the rich, intimidating socialite as she stopped in front of Catherine.

Catherine waited a few seconds, then answered calmly, “I’ve always thought you were smart too.”

“Oh, really?” Belinda’s lips curled into a mocking smile. “You must be pretty pleased with yourself, getting pregnant with Lance’s child right under my nose. Do you really think you’re smarter than me?”

Her imagination was wild, and Catherine could barely keep up with her logic. Jasper, still young and shy, clung to Catherine’s side. Catherine didn’t want a fight—not with Jasper there—so she just waited.

Catherine met her gaze. “Why are you so sure this child is Lance’s?”

Belinda let out a cold laugh. “If it wasn’t, would he have chased you all the way to Eldervale? Look at all the crazy things he’s done lately. If it’s not because of this baby, do you seriously think he’s fallen for a pregnant woman?”

She admitted Catherine was beautiful, even now. Definitely the kind of woman who turned heads. But she doubted anyone could be so irresistible that a man like Lance would drop everything for her, especially now.

Catherine answered, voice steady, “He’s fighting with Adelina. He only came to Eldervale to get back at her. I don’t know what Adelina’s told you, but she doesn’t like me, that much is obvious. As for this baby… it has nothing to do with Lance.”

“If you don’t believe me, ask Adelina. I’ve got proof.” She took out her phone, pulled up the screenshot Sally had sent her, and sent it on to Belinda.
