The Best Revenge It Wasn't Even Your Child novel Chapter 437

Catherine slipped into her pajamas, throwing Lorinda a sidelong look.

“If you ever go behind my back to book something for me, I swear I’ll never forgive you.”

Lorinda just pouted. “That woman we bumped into earlier, don’t you think she looked familiar? I feel like I’ve seen her before.”

“We saw her this morning when we checked out the postnatal care place,” Catherine reminded her.

Lorinda’s memory clicked. “Oh, right. Last time, you only went there hoping to run into her. Are you two close or something?”

“She’s just a client,” Catherine replied, shaking her head. “But something about her is off. I can’t explain it.”

“There are plenty of weird people out there. Don’t let it bother you.” Lorinda brushed it off, clearly not interested in the quirks of some older woman. “Do you get why I wanted to book that place for you though?”

She was really trying to show how much she cared by arranging the best for Catherine.

Catherine rolled her eyes. “I don’t want to get it. I’m not going. Let’s drop it.”

Without another word, she left for the living room to play with Jasper.

Even though they’d gotten home late, Alexa had lunch waiting for them. She reheated everything, and Catherine and Lorinda sat down to eat together.

After eating, Catherine headed back to her room. She’d gotten up early that morning and was planning on a nap.

She barely made it to bed before someone started knocking at her door.

Sighing, she got up to answer it.

“Catherine, open up!”

It was Lorinda, her voice a little panicked, knocking like her life depended on it.

Catherine opened the door. “What’s going on?”

“Amanda… Amanda’s here,” Lorinda said, catching her breath. She must’ve run straight over after getting Amanda’s call.

“What’s Amanda doing in Eldervale?” Catherine’s mood instantly shifted. “Who’s looking after the kids at the orphanage?”

Lorinda shook her head. “I have no idea. She just called me out of nowhere, said she’s here, and wants to have dinner with us tonight.”
