The Best Revenge It Wasn't Even Your Child novel Chapter 374

People were muttering and grumbling, but as Sophia made her way through the crowd, everyone just instinctively moved aside. Ivan, though, was the exception. He stood his ground, so Sophia didn’t hesitate. She reached out and gave him a solid shove.

“Still got your eyes glued to me? Yeah, I mean you!” she snapped.

Ivan was short and skinny, with that old-fashioned, center-parted hairstyle that made him look like a villain from some retro movie. Against Sophia’s determined push, he didn’t stand a chance.

“Come on, Catherine, let’s go.” Sophia flashed a cheeky grin, all loyalty and bravado, and tugged Catherine along with her.

“Open your eyes, you fool!” Ivan spat into the empty air, glaring after them. “Catherine’s lost her power, and you’re still following her around!”

But Sophia and Catherine were already out the door, his rant muffled behind them.

Once they were in the hallway, Sophia scratched her head, glancing at Catherine with a frown. “Has my brother lost it? Why is he suddenly letting Ivan, that Buck family lapdog, run the show?”

Catherine’s voice was calm, measured. “You shouldn’t be so reckless. Ivan’s a sneaky one. Trust me, you don’t want to end up on his bad side.”

Sophia shrugged, unbothered. “Whatever. He can’t do anything to me.”

They reached Catherine’s office, and Sophia waved before heading toward the elevators.

“Just… be careful,” Catherine called out, her voice soft but firm, before disappearing into her office.

A few minutes later, Ivan and his little gang strutted out, acting like they owned the place. As they passed Catherine’s office, Ivan made a point to stop and peek inside, his eyes lingering a little too long.

“Go on back, I’ll take care of letting Ingram know,” Ivan told the others, stepping into an elevator alone while his group waited for the next one.

Back in his own office, Ivan dialed Ingram to share the news.

“Lance handed you the project?” Ingram sounded genuinely surprised. “That doesn’t make sense. He knows you’re on my side. He’d never actually trust you with something that important.”

“Oh, right. I forgot you’re pregnant,” Letty said, pausing mid-stride. “What about milk? Want me to grab you a glass?”

“No, thanks. Just get what you want.” Catherine had never really been into those drinks, and now that she was pregnant, she avoided them completely.

“Okay, I’ll be quick,” Letty said, dashing off.

Catherine lowered her head, scrolling through her phone. Suddenly, the light changed. Someone had slipped into the seat beside her. She looked up, her expression dropping instantly.

“Catherine, long time no see!” Gavin greeted her, rubbing his chin with one hand and holding a bouquet of tiny white flowers in the other. His grin was pure mischief.

“I came all the way from Cabinda just to see you. Are you really still mad at me?” he asked, flashing her a smile that was just a little too eager.

Catherine shot him a look. “Let’s not pretend. You knew Lance was here, and you just had to show up for the drama, didn’t you?”
