The Best Revenge It Wasn't Even Your Child novel Chapter 332

Neville had blown up her phone with calls and messages, all demanding to know where she was. He said the entire company was waiting for her to start the meeting.

Waiting for a meeting was just code for waiting to gang up on her.

Catherine ignored it all.

She scrolled through Ivan’s endless stream of texts, stopping at the last one. Catherine, running away won’t help. How could Lance send a coward like you to take over the branch!

She didn’t reply to that either. She set her phone to silent and tossed it back in her bag.

Instead, she spent the rest of the day helping Lorinda rent the apartment across the street, moving over all of Lorinda and Jasper’s things. By the time they finished, the sky had already turned dark.

Their new places were just separated by a single road.

Lorinda sat with Jasper on the front steps, waiting for Catherine to bring the baby’s bottle.

“Honestly, I’m starting to see the appeal of having a man around,” Lorinda called out across the street. “If either of us had a husband, we could’ve put him to work hauling boxes.”

Catherine stepped outside with the bottle, locked her door, and walked over to her.

“Then why don’t you get one?” she asked.

Lorinda scoffed. “If I wanted to, I could have a dozen guys lined up with just a snap. And honestly, they wouldn’t even have to do the heavy lifting. If they just handed over some cash, that’d work too. Look at Lance. If you hadn’t divorced him, at least you’d never have to stress about money or fun. He might not lift a finger to help you move, but he’d pay someone else to do it, which is just as good.”

Catherine reached the steps and paused, looking at Lorinda settled there with Jasper. Lorinda’s opinions changed with her mood. One minute, she’d swear she’d never take a man without love, no matter how rich he was. But once things got tough, money suddenly seemed like enough.

Lorinda could talk all she wanted. Catherine had actually lived it.

After a moment, Catherine said quietly, “A marriage without love is just a waste of time. Better to end it sooner rather than later, so no one gets held back. I’ve never regretted asking for that divorce.”

Mostly, she didn’t want to keep Lance from moving on with his own life.

“Look at me, bringing it up again,” Lorinda said, giving herself a little smack on the head. “You’re right. Even if everyone else thinks he’s perfect, you’re done with him. There are plenty of other guys out there waiting for you…”

She stood up and motioned Catherine over.
