The Best Revenge It Wasn't Even Your Child novel Chapter 295

“Catherine, you’re here for the transfer, right?”

Aaron trailed after Lance, watching Catherine’s eyes flicker. First, he assumed she was getting promoted. Second, he realized she was finally leaving. That meant the crisis was over, didn’t it?

Catherine didn’t step out of the elevator at first. She just stood there, frozen, until the doors began to close. Snapping out of it, she quickly pressed the button and hurried out.

“Lance. Aaron.”

She stopped in front of Lance, glancing down at the transfer paperwork in her hands. “I…”

“Let’s talk in my office.”

Lance passed some files to Aaron and headed inside without waiting for a reply.

Aaron took the files and gave Catherine a meaningful look. He lowered his voice. “As soon as Lance signs, you’re free to go.”

Of course Lance would sign.

Catherine nodded and followed him into the office. The mess from the other day was gone. Everything looked tidy and in order again.

Lance stood leaning against his desk, holding a pen, waiting for her.

“Lance, are you sure you don’t want to think it over?”

Before, she would have jumped at the chance to leave, even if she wasn’t exactly qualified. Grab the opportunity and run, that was her style. But now that Lance knew about her pregnancy, even with everything still so complicated, she couldn’t just walk away without understanding his reasons.

“The person you originally picked for the Eldervale position was Ingram’s son, right?”

Ingram was a big deal at SilverLeaf Industries. His son might not be the most capable, but with that kind of background, he was more than qualified on paper.

“Ingram went to Eldervale not long ago. Took his son along, introduced him to some key business leaders. Did all of that without telling me,” Lance said, keeping it short.
