The Best Revenge It Wasn't Even Your Child novel Chapter 265

“What did you say?”

Harrell’s voice was so quiet, Catherine barely caught it. She had already pushed the office door halfway open and there was a rush of noise from the hallway, drowning out his words.

Harrell stood up and gave her a polite smile. “Nothing. Take care.”

Catherine didn’t dwell on it. Harrell had always been a little strange. But she had more urgent things to worry about. Once she left Cabinda, whatever connection she had here would be over. She wouldn’t have to worry about Harrell knowing Lance, either.

With a small nod to Harrell, she stepped out and left.

As soon as she was gone, Harrell pulled out his phone and called Lance.

“I finished the medical report and sent it to your email,” he said.

Lance’s voice sounded tired, almost rough. He didn’t seem in a great mood. “Alright, I got it.”

“Do you know anyone at the hospital?” Harrell asked.

“Call Aaron. He’ll take care of it,” Lance replied without even asking what Harrell was up to.

“Perfect. Aaron should know the name of that little girl from the orphanage. The one Catherine’s been helping. Saves me the trouble of asking around,” Harrell said, carefully.

After a beat, the line went silent.

“Well, if there’s nothing else, I’ll hang up,” Harrell said, though he didn’t end the call.

Lance jumped in, “What are you trying to find out?”

“Catherine spent all her savings from the last few years to pay for treatment for a kid at her orphanage. But the hospital bills are insane. I think they’re scamming her,” Harrell said, keeping it brief. “She’s your secretary, after all. I just thought I’d do her a favor and look into it.”

Harrell had been living abroad for years and didn’t have any connections here. He couldn’t count on the Lane family either. All he could do was ask Lance for help.

“Don’t get involved with things you can’t handle,” Lance said, his irritation obvious.
