In an instant, all the excuses she had been thinking of became meaningless.
If she refused again, it would only make her look guiltier. And after everything that had happened today, Victoria knew all too well that whatever Elias wanted, her resistance was futile.
If he was determined to come in, she couldn't stop him.
Giving up, she let go of the doorknob and said, "Fine, come in and wait. I'll make two new bowls of Pasta."
Thanks to that romantic yet perplexing fireworks show, the original bowl of Pasta had gone cold and congealed into a lump. It was inedible now.

There was still some broth left from before. Victoria reheated it, added a handful of dried Pasta, fried two sunny-side-up eggs, and quickly brought the bowls out.
At the dining table, Elias was sitting in the chair she had just been in. Dawn was curled up contentedly on his lap, purring.
Hearing her approach, Elias stood up and naturally took the noodle bowls from her hands.
Perhaps it was the steam from the stovetop fogging her vision, but as Victoria watched his back, a complex, unreadable emotion flickered in her eyes.
She had longed for a simple, ordinary scene like this for two years.
"What are you spacing out for over there?" Elias asked, seeing her lingering by the kitchen doorway.
Victoria composed herself and sat down across from him.
When she first woke up, she had no appetite. But now, after half an hour of emotional ups and downs, the aroma of the Pasta in clear broth made her realize she was hungry.
She kept her eyes lowered, not speaking, her mind calculating how to get Elias to leave as soon as possible while she picked up her utensils.
Suddenly, an egg appeared in her bowl.
Victoria's movements froze. She looked up at Elias, a hint of astonishment in her eyes.
Sensing her gaze, Elias said with a straight face, "I don't like this half-cooked stuff."
Victoria was speechless.
