Victoria didn't wait for Elias's reply. Her gaze swept over everyone present before she turned and walked toward the building's exit.
"Hawk!"
Elias's voice, cold and heavy, came from behind her. "Call Security. Victoria is no longer allowed inside The Shawn Group, effective immediately. Anyone who lets her in is fired."
Victoria's steps faltered for a fraction of a second, then she continued on as if she hadn't heard a thing, walking straight out of The Shawn Group.
Her phone buzzed with a message from Felice, asking how the document delivery had gone.
Victoria stopped by the side of the road and looked back at the entrance of the massive building, her expression somber.
She had publicly humiliated Candice. Knowing her personality, Candice wouldn't let it go. It wouldn't be long before the Design Institute received news that The Shawn Group was canceling its contract with Aurelian Central.
She needed to figure out how to explain this to Felice before that happened.
The Design Institute was her first job out of college. Even though she knew that no explanation could change the fact that she would likely be fired if the contract was canceled, she still wanted to do everything she could to save the situation.
With that in mind, Victoria turned to cross the street.
"Victoria! Watch out!"
Screech—
A voice and the sharp blare of a horn sounded at the same time. Victoria instinctively turned her head and saw a car hurtling toward her at an incredible speed.
Her pupils constricted.
There was no time to move!
Suddenly, a hand grabbed her arm and yanked her back.
Victoria stumbled into a warm, broad chest as the car sped past just behind her.
"Are you okay?"
Still in shock, Victoria's face was pale.
At the sound of the voice, she came to her senses and looked up into a pair of charming eyes filled with concern. She was startled. It was Justin!
Realizing she was still in his arms, Victoria took two steps back to create some distance. "I'm fine," she said, composing herself.
The warmth in his arms vanished. Justin's eyes darkened for a moment. He lowered his hand and looked at Victoria, his brow furrowing when he noticed the scratches on her arm. "Your arm is hurt."
Victoria looked down.
Candice must have scratched her during their struggle. In the heat of the moment, she hadn't felt a thing, but now she could see that the scratches were deep enough to have broken the skin, with small beads of blood forming.
"I'm so sorry."
