“I have to leave.”

Sebastian looked reluctant, but he nodded obediently. “Okay.”

He followed them to the street corner. Suddenly, he walked right up to Shane and whispered, “Don’t bully Seraphina, or I’ll beat you up. I may not be able to win now, but I’ll definitely win when I’m older.”

Shane’s lips twitched, teetering between amusement and disbelief upon this kid.

The two of them left the slum.

“Shane, give me your account number. I’ll transfer the money to you.”

“No need for that.”

The money was nothing to him.

“Give it to me.” Seraphina insisted.

Shane had no choice but to give her the account number reluctantly. Moments later, his phone buzzed with a bank notification.

“Shane, can you do me a favor?”

“What is it?”

“I know you’ve got your men in this area. There should be someone from your family as well, right?” Seraphina looked at him sideways.

Shane knew what she wanted.

“You want me to take care of that kid?”

“Yes.”

“Got it. I’ll have someone watch over him. No one will be able to touch him.” Shane agreed reluctantly.

“No need for that.”

It might lead to misunderstandings between Sebastian and Shane. It might even cause trouble with the local gang leader. If someone with no sense of proportion came and targeted Sebastian, he would be in great danger.

It wasn’t the first time the innocents were caught in the crossfire, paying for someone else’s mistakes.

“Just have someone check in on him every now and then to make sure he’s alright. If anything happens, let me know at once.”

She was afraid of dragging him into her mess once again.

She still owed him a life debt from her past.

Even though Shane never knew why she dragged him along, he still agreed without hesitation. “Alright.”

“Thank you.”

Shane smiled, “If you want to thank me, treat me to a meal.”

“Okay. You decide when and where we should go.”

Shane pondered. “I can’t think of anything now. I’ll let you know tomorrow.”

“Okay.”

As they reached the crossroads, they parted ways.

Later that night, the doors of an entertainment club were pushed open. The air inside was thick with smoke. A group of burly, muscular men covered in tattoos immediately rose to their feet as Shane entered. “Mr. Shane.”

Shane waved them off casually and headed straight for a private couch. He sat alone with his phone in hand. He was frowning one moment and smiled the next. His expressions shifted so frequently that the people around him couldn’t help but feel puzzled.

One man whispered, “What’s up with Mr. Shane?”

“Did he get possessed? Something’s off.”

“Yeah. This is not right.”

They witnessed the rare scene of Shane smiling at his phone. This is not the Shane they knew.

A group of rugged men stood in stunned silence, unable to comprehend what they were seeing.

As the words were spoken, all eyes turned to him. A storm of fists rained down on him as he cried out in pain.

After the beating, a man warned him. “Kid, you can put whatever you want into your mouth, but be careful of what comes out of it. You’ve got the guts to say Mr. Shane is in love. How could that be possible?”

“Exactly. Do you know who Mr. Shane is? He’s invincible. With a single wave, he would have endless women lining up for him. You’re saying that he’s in love? You’re crazy!”
