Mia pouted, then settled uncomfortably next to Andre. At this moment, she felt it was safer to stand by her husband. She didn't care about the pain in her hand anymore. The most important thing right now was to get out of here ASAP. "Andre, I've already checked Leo's hair. Nothing's wrong. Can we leave now?"
Andre noticed the change in the way she addressed him. When she needed him, she would call him "honey". And when she didn't need him, she would call him by his name, Andre. This irked him. He coughed lightly and said, "My father was right. Nighttime isn't the best time to move."
This meant Mia had to spend another night with the Cedillo family. Upon hearing this decision, she felt as if her world was crumbling.
It was already nighttime.
Mia sat on the couch, angrily hitting the backrest, "We were supposed to leave, but because of a careless sentence, I pissed someone off. Now, we can't even leave."
Mia didn't know that the real reason she couldn't leave wasn't because of what she said to Hansen, but how she addressed Andre.
"Andre, can we leave first thing in the morning? School starts soon and I won't have time to move then."
"Depends on my mood." Andre said and went to take a shower.
In a nearby bedroom, Leo sneaked into his parents' master bedroom. He quietly approached his mother in her vanity room, asking, "Mom, can you tell me what the fight between you and Mia was all about?"
Upon hearing this, Naomi had no reservations about sharing the details with her son. After listening, Leo sighed, "Man, that's bad luck."
Then he told his mother, "Mom, I think you were duped by Jillian. I can't be sure about other things, but I'm certain Mia has no intentions of stealing your position as the lady of the Cedillo family. She's incredibly lazy. If she can stand, she won't sit. If she can sit, she won't lie down. If she can use a ballpoint pen, she definitely wouldn't use a capped fountain pen... How could such a lazy person steal your tiring position?"
"Leo, how can you say a thing like that?" Naomi argued back, "I only realized last night that I was tricked. Well, what's done is done."
However, Naomi was curious about how her son knew Mia. She asked him, "Leo, how did you meet her? You're classmates, how come you never mentioned her?"
Thinking about his days as Mia's servant, Leo lied to his mother, "Mom, Mia was my sidekick at school."
Naomi believed her son, "How can you treat a girl like that? Have you forgotten the gentlemanly manners I taught you?"
Feeling a little guilty, Leo replied, "Alright, alright, I get it. I won't bully her anymore. Now, Mom, it's late, you should go to bed. I'll go find Mia."
He wanted to apologize to Mia for his mother's misunderstandings, knowing that his mother would never apologize due to her pride.
"Come back soon, it's late. If you go looking for your Mia, your uncle might get upset." Naomi reminded her son.
"No problem," Leo replied.
He wasn't afraid of stirring up a conflict, so he left his mother's bedroom and walked to his uncle's bedroom door. He knocked, saying, "Mia, I know you're not asleep. Open up."
The girl lying on the couch sat up. She looked at the man reading on the bed. "Get dressed. I'll open the door."
Andre closed his book, licking his back teeth, increasingly annoyed by his nephew.
The door opened, and Mia asked slightly annoyed, "What is it?"
Leo replied, "Of course I need something, otherwise why would I come looking for you?"
He walked into the married couple's bedroom without politeness. Then, he saw the pillows and blanket on the couch.
"My God!" He looked at the couch, then at the man lying in the big bed in the room, and raised his voice, "Have you guys always slept separately?"
Mia punched him lightly on the forehead, "Can you keep it down?"
Andre got out of bed, deciding it was time to teach Leo a lesson.
The moment Mia was lifted off the ground, her heart almost jumped out of her chest, "Hey, what are you doing?"
Andre swallowed hard, walked to the bed with his wife in his arms, lifted the blanket, and threw Mia to the side.
Leo's mouth dropped open in surprise, "Oh my god, is my uncle planning to give him a live show? This is so exciting!"
Mia was freaking out on the inside, she sat up in alarm, "Andre, remember what we agreed on, don't cross the line."
Andre turned his head to look at his nephew who was still standing there, "Are you planning on sticking around to watch what happens next with your aunt and me?"
Leo covered his eyes, "I'm not looking, I'm not looking."
Andre didn't even glance at his nephew, he growled, "Get lost."
Leo was so scared that he reflexively bolted, even forgetting to help his classmate Mia out of her predicament. He closed his eyes and beat a hasty retreat, clumsily closing the door behind him as he left.
Inside the room, the couple looked at each other.
Mia was cornered on the bed, too scared to move. She swallowed, "Andre, are... are you planning on sleeping on the couch?"
Andre moved closer to her, the dim room light casting shadows on his face. Mia could even feel his breath.
She was too nervous to blink, staring at the face that was now so close to hers.
