SSS Awakening: Rebirth of the Strongest Vampire God novel Chapter 74

Chapter 74: I will be the one winning in the end!

When the Serpent Fire spell detonated, a huge eruption of emerald-tinted flame exploded outward from Bertram’s position, racing like wildfire across the battlefield.

It surged toward the well and everything around it, completely engulfing the protective red barrier and washing over any unlucky players too slow to retreat.

One serpent after another emerged from this sea of flames and started attacking the barrier repeatedly. Every time they struck, the serpents did a significant damage on the barrier. If it continued like this then the barrier was going to collapse in no time.

However, Damon had no plans of something like that happening. He directly placed his hand on the barrier and started erecting multiple divine shields one after the other.

Bertram’s jaw dropped to the ground when he saw what was happening. How can divine shields be popping up around the barrier soaking in the damage of the flame serpents? Was someone from their guild betraying them? But one person shouldn’t be able to erect so many barriers. What was going on?

Unfortunately for him, the serpents continued to crash and burn against the divine shields, not even touching the actual barrier. The integrity of the barrier remained well above 70%.

Bertram went livid. He had thrown a million dollars at this siege already and it still was not enough? How was he going to explain that million dollars to his father? He started shouting at the NPC, filled with panic and anxiety. "Do something, damn it! He’s killing everyone!"

Completely oblivious to his plight, Sir Elias remained umoved.

Bertram did not know what to do anymore. The flame serpent died out just like that barely making a dent in the barrier. More and more players continued to fall.

Several other players had arrived at the scene right now but there was a whole barrier around the battlefield, preventing the outsiders from joining.

Not that anyone was complaining. No one wanted to join this bloodbath.

Finally, Bertram completely lost it. "What am I supposed to do now? What can I do to make you fight that bastard. Tell me. Tell me. I will do anything. Fuck you. You high and mighty piece of shit. You talked so much nonsense about being a knight and a goddamn part of light faction, now why are you not doing anything? Why don’t you just kill him already?"

The NPC was visibly annoyed by Bertram’s words with Bertram’s reputation no doubt taking a nosedive. However, the NPC did answer his question. "Unless the integrity of the barrier falls below 50% or the leadership of one side dies, I cannot enter the battlefield."

Bertram’s eyes shone. The man’s words gave him an idea. Killing Blood God looked like an impossible task at the moment but he was not the only leadership in this event. Aurora was already dead which only left Bertram on the scene. What if he committed suicide on his own? Then the NPC would have no choice except the enter the battlefield.

Bertram gritted his teeth, veins bulging on his face. "Even if I die, I will make sure to take you down with me. I will be the one winning in the end! I will be the one having the last laugh!" An expression of utter craze and madness appeared on his face.

Damon looked at him for a moment and he could immediately guess what he was going to do. Heck, this was precisely why he hadn’t touched Bertram or any of the elites of the Golden Lotus guild until now but it looked like the other party finally figured out the trick to get the NPC involved.

Across the field, players who had survived thus far stared in stunned silence. Elias’ presence changed the atmosphere entirely. The level 100 NPC was going to fight for them. Finally, there was some justice in this world. Everyone waited in bated breath for the damned villain Blood God to die.

Elias raised his sword toward Damon. "Darkness shall fall today," he said in a voice that echoed across the battlefield and everyone cheered. The sword was already swinging.

A beam of light shot toward Damon like a cannon blast, burning through the ground in a straight line. Damon leapt to the side, but even in dodging, he could feel the heat singe the edges of his cloak.

"Yeah," he muttered, blinking behind a nearby rock. "This is going to be very annoying."

The beam curved midair. The attack hadn’t died just yet. Damon had less than a second to respond. He gritted his teeth, activated Shadowstep, and vanished once more just as the divine light vaporized the stone he had taken cover behind.

A moment later, he reappeared near the corpse of one of the fallen healers, eyes locked on Elias.

From the sidelines, no one moved. The surviving players, now reduced to a fraction of the original crowd, watched with a mix of awe, fear, and grim fascination. None dared interfere. This was no longer a siege event.

This was a clash of monsters.
