As Bertram’s furious command echoed across the battlefield with arrogance and confidence, the scattered priests and paladins began regaining focus. The chaotic formation tightened. Shields were raised. Buffs were cast.
Dozens of players turned their attention away from the villainous Blood God and towards the lone suspicious well, the supposed entrance of the Dark Faction’s stronghold. Numerous spells were cast all targeted toward the single worn out well.
Bertram’s eyes shone with coldness. "What are you going to do now, Blood God? The victory will be ours."
Meanwhile, Damon only grinned as he appeared behind yet another healer. With a single cleave, one more was dead and he wasted no time in absorbing the tasty delicious blood.
Blood Reign was not wrong. Divine blood and holy blood was indeed the most delicious but nothing could even come close to Aurora’s blood. Damon grinned as he recalled the amazing skill he stole from her.
[Ding! Skill Acquired: Radiant Benediction (C Rank, Passive) — Converts 5% of incoming damage into health.]
Damon’s grin widened. Radiant Benediction was normally a class-restricted passive reserved for archbishops or advanced divine classes. The fact that he’d taken it from Aurora, the darling of the Divine Faction, made it that much sweeter. It was like stealing their goddess’s blessing and twisting it into a vampire’s feast.
"Thanks, Aurora. I’ll be sure to put it to good use."
He continued his killing spree and moved to yet another healer.
[Ding! You have extracted the ability ’Minor Heal’]
[Ding! [Minor Heal] has been upgraded to lv.2]
Damon shook his head helplessly. Thanks to the many many players with a similar character profile, all of his healing type skills were getting upgraded by leaps and bounds. At this rate, he was going to be a better healer than most of these players.
With one more skill extracted and tucked away in his arsenal he casually continued hunting one player after another. The field of light had long since disappeared after the chaos from Aurora’s death so he was able to use his shadow clone again.
It was too bad the clone couldn’t use his bloodline extraction ability but hey the kill also helped. It was not like he could kill every single player out here. Or could he?
Damon decided to take himself upon the challenge and get at least 90% of these players. He activated Innate Enhancement and redoubled his efforts to kill as many as he could.
Meanwhile...
At the forefront of the battle, Bertram and his men were confidently lobbing attacks at the well. A blinding explosion of holy energy struck the crumbling stone structure, shaking the earth beneath their feet. Light-elemental particles exploded outward, forming a cascading aura of brilliance that should have reduced any evil sanctum to rubble.
But the well didn’t budge.
The light faded.
He raised the scroll high above his head. Flaming serpent runes burst into the air like a blooming lotus of fire, coiling and twisting with malicious elegance. Players around him instinctively backed away, shielding their eyes from the brightness.
The sky above them turned crimson. Heat surged through the battlefield. Even Damon, busy executing yet another healer, paused. His eyes flickered toward the front lines and the scroll in Bertram’s hands.
"This guy is loaded." Damon bitterly smiled. Of course, it only took him a moment to recognize what was happening. The scroll in Bertram’s hand was a limited-use cash shop item, one of those overpriced pay-to-win bombs that most free players would never even see, let alone hold.
It costed a whopping 10000 gold coins and the spell scroll had a damning amount of attack power, especially at this stage of the game when everyone was around level 15 and level 20. This bastard actually dropped 1 million USD dollars on a single use consumable!
Some people were just born with a golden spoon! Damon could only envy the super whales swimming all around him as he blinked and returned to the base defense.
While the scroll itself wasn’t all that much of a trouble, the real problem was the NPC Elias. No one knew when the damned guy would act and start attacking. So he left his clone to continue picking off the players one after another and he came back to the battle front to do some damage control.
Maybe it was time to stop farming and put an end to this ridiculous event once and for all. Finishing the event before the timer ran out could also net him some browny points.
Damon immediately used Blink once more and appeared right next to the well. The next thing he did was touch the barrier and cast a spell.
