Nelly even made a show of pulling out her phone, pretending to call the police.
Dana and Emma were both there, but since it wasn't their own sons involved, they couldn't be bothered to intervene, content to just watch the show.
Emma, in fact, was hoping the police would come and lock Eden up for a good few years.
Only Mrs. Walker, seeing Nelly about to dial, rushed over and snatched the phone from her hand.
Yolanda was so furious she lost control, raising her hand to slap Eden. “Eden, are you blind? You’re so desperate you’d rape a tramp like her?”
Eden was already seething. He knew perfectly well that Nelly and Mignon had been targeting Bennett, but he was the one who ended up in this mess.
“Are you out of your mind? Can’t you see I was set up by them?” Eden snapped, shoving Yolanda away. He then pointed at Nelly and Mignon.
“Don’t think I don’t know. You bribed a servant to sneak in here and climb into someone's bed. Go ahead, call the police. Let them come and throw you two trespassing whores out.”
Nelly and Mignon never expected Eden to expose their plan so bluntly.
But they would never admit it. The two of them clung to each other, crying hysterically.
Yolanda tried to lunge at Mignon again, but Nelly fiercely protected her daughter. In her desperation to shield her child, she shoved Yolanda, who lost her footing, fell, and suddenly there was blood.
“My stomach… my stomach, it hurts so much,” Yolanda cried out, clutching her belly. Mrs. Walker immediately panicked.
Fortunately, the Thompson estate had a doctor on-site.
The doctor rushed over, gave Yolanda a shot to prevent a miscarriage, and then had her sent to the hospital.
Eden was indeed an illegitimate son, but he was also Frank’s biological child. Whether Frank liked Eden or not was one thing, but Emma’s merciless scolding was also a slap in Frank’s face.
Her mother-in-law was truly spoiled. Doted on by her family before marriage, and by her husband after. If it weren’t for the deep love between Frank and Emma, in a game of pure family politics, someone with her blunt nature wouldn't have survived the first five episodes.
Yvonne cleared her throat and spoke with feigned apprehension, “Mom, Mr. Monroe is Dad’s son too. It’s not unreasonable for him to attend today’s banquet. It’s just… Mr. Monroe was so careless. To have his affairs become public knowledge… Dad values his reputation so much, and this is the first time he’s been so publicly humiliated. I’m afraid the Thompson family will become the butt of everyone’s jokes.”
Yvonne’s words made Frank’s expression darken even further. They were far more potent than Emma’s insults.
Eden wasn't an idiot; he could hear the venom laced in Yvonne’s sweet words.
He shot Yvonne a glare and was about to speak when Frank’s hand struck his face.
