She Was the Treasure All Along novel Chapter 93

Loyce shot him a glance, wrote a few words on the chart, and closed the folder. “All set. We can go wait for the results.”

Byron stared. “That fast? What does he have?”

Loyce’s lips curved. “Nothing.”

Byron looked like his brain had short-circuited.

Outside, other doctors were still huddled in tense discussion, debating symptoms and differentials.

Loyce had gone in last and came out in under fifteen minutes. The moment people saw how quickly she’d returned, mockery spread across faces that had been solemn minutes earlier.

“She came out that fast. She probably didn’t understand a single case.”

“Look at Byron’s face. That’s the face of someone who got wrecked.”

Purity’s confidence swelled. Without Marcella’s help, what could her apprentice possibly do?

Across the hall, Lucian sat in the seat of honor. The butler handed the final results to Robert, who passed them to several PhDs from military hospitals for review. The conclusion came quickly.

Lucian only glanced at the page. No surprise showed on his face. “Announce it.”

Robert nodded and appeared at the top of the sweeping staircase. “Everyone has finished their consultations,” He called, his voice carrying through the room. “The results are in my hand.”

Purity rose, her smile impossible to hide. Sapphire supported her grandmother and lifted her chin, walking to the front under a shower of envious looks. She even turned her head deliberately toward Loyce and Byron, disdain written clearly in her eyes.

Loyce didn’t react. She picked up a bowl of candy from the table, unwrapped one, and popped it into her mouth.
