She Was the Treasure All Along novel Chapter 703

If it weren't for the dim light in the tent, he never would have noticed the subtle shift in her expression.

He quietly defended himself. "I really don't have any experience, but I adjusted as we went."

"That little bit of pain isn't even worth mentioning." Loyce shook her head gently against his chest. Her voice was thick and exhausted, yet she sounded as content as a well-fed cat: "I'm just a little tired."

Lucian chuckled low in his throat, his chest rumbling against hers.

He tightened his grip, pulling her flush against him.

After a quiet moment, he murmured, "We still have two days of vacation left. Right here."

Loyce already knew exactly what a beast who had just tasted meat for the first time would want to do.

Of course, she had no energy to object, nor did she want to. If this was his cheat day, wasn't it hers, too?

A profound sense of peace and fulfillment settled over both of them in the tent.

She found an even more comfortable spot in his arms, her eyelids growing heavier by the second.

Outside the tent, the island night offered nothing but the rhythmic crashing of the waves and the chirping of unknown insects, weaving together a natural lullaby.

Lucian watched Loyce's drowsy profile, her long eyelashes casting soft shadows beneath her eyes, his heart seized by an unprecedented sense of wholeness. He patted her back gently, as if soothing a child.

"Go to sleep," he whispered in her ear, his voice as soft as the night breeze. "I'm right here."

Loyce murmured a sleepy agreement. Right before her consciousness slipped into darkness, her last coherent thought was that this man's embrace would always make her feel perfectly safe.

Morning light filtered through the waterproof fabric of the tent, bathing the interior in a soft, warm yellow glow.

Loyce woke up to the sound of waves crashing against the rocks. A dreamless, incredibly restful night of sleep left her feeling completely refreshed, without any of the typical discomfort of sleeping outdoors.

She patted the air mattress beneath her—it was quite soft. Behind her was a solid chest radiating intense body heat.

Lucian's arm was still firmly locked around her waist, holding her exactly as he had the night before.

She only shifted her arm slightly before a deep, sleep-laced voice came from behind her: "You're awake?"
