She Was the Treasure All Along novel Chapter 627

His voice was laced with utter helplessness. "Ayla cries almost every single day. She can't bear to lose Saba. She begs me to let him stay, but my hands are tied. I have to prioritize the safety of our neighbors and Saba's own life."

Loyce understood the impossible situation. "So, what's your plan?"

"We've been in contact with a sanctuary," Sagan said, a sliver of hope reigniting in his eyes. "The Klein Conservancy. It's in Cape Province. I've been told they specialize in taking in large rescues and animals that can't survive in the wild. The paperwork is mostly finalized. Transport should arrive in a couple of days to pick him up. It's just..."

He hesitated. "I'm worried Ayla won't survive the heartbreak of saying goodbye."

"She'll learn to let go," Loyce said softly. "Knowing he's safe in a sanctuary with his own territory is better than watching him get shot. It's a harsh lesson, but part of growing up."

Knowing she was right, Sagan nodded. "I'll make sure to sit down and talk her through it."

Their walk ended as the sunset painted the sky in vivid purples and oranges.

The resort hosted a massive bonfire party that night. With cold beer and fresh barbecue, the atmosphere was electric.

Loyce stayed for a polite amount of time before slipping back to her room. She booted up her secure laptop and initiated an online meeting on the dark web.

Hugo, Storm, and Nightingale were already waiting.

Hugo spoke first. "Our guys have quietly assembled around the perimeter of the resort."

"From what I've seen, Corinne Pierce has just been doing PR for animal conservation and schmoozing with the local elite," Nightingale reported. "No red flags so far. They're hiding whatever they're doing very well."

Storm chimed in with a whistle. "I was scouting a perimeter spot today and saw this massive male lion kept on a private farm! Man, that beast is terrifying, and this little girl was just hanging out with it. Kid's got guts."
