She Was the Treasure All Along novel Chapter 62

Keegan’s gut dropped. A slick layer of cold sweat broke across his back. He forced himself to stand straight, but his voice shook anyway. “Eric… what else does he want to say? We can discuss it upstairs.”

Eric opened his tablet and pulled up a document. “Per the addendum to Clause Seven, Lonsdale Group reserves the right to unilaterally terminate cooperation with any party guilty of unethical conduct.”

He looked up, gaze sharp as a blade. “Your insulting remarks toward our young lady just now meet the breach condition.”

“Your… young lady?” Keegan’s knees nearly buckled. He grabbed Marshall’s arm so hard his nails almost dug in. “Mr. Sampson, Loyce… she really is…?”

Marshall’s lips trembled. He couldn’t accept it, and still clung to a last thread of hope. “There’s been a mistake. Loyce was a baby my wife picked up from the countryside. A discarded child! How could she possibly be connected to the Lonsdales?”

“You’re questioning the Lonsdales’ capability?” Eric gave a thin, chilly smile. “Ms. Loyce was personally confirmed through DNA testing by Gordon Lonsdale and brought back as his biological granddaughter.”

Marshall’s face went the color of ash. “How… could that be…”

Not long ago, the Sampsons had thrown Loyce out, then humiliated her publicly, dragging her name through the mud. The Lonsdales must have seen it all! Marshall swayed. At his age, the shock hit like a heart attack.

“No… no, that can’t be true!” Keegan suddenly snapped, voice rising into a hysterical roar. “She’s a fake! The Sampsons raised her for twenty years. She was the substitute!”

He fumbled for his phone like a drowning man. “I’m calling Mr. Lonsdale! This has to be a misunderstanding!”

Eric signaled lightly and the bodyguards pinned Keegan in place as he thrashed.

Eric’s voice stayed calm. “Mr. Lonsdale asked me to tell you: the humiliation his sister endured from being dumped is entirely the Vaughn family’s responsibility.”

He tapped the screen. Keegan’s phone immediately received a termination notice.

“Two-billion-dollar project—terminated effective immediately. The three-hundred-million deposit your company paid will be confiscated as liquidated damages.”

Three hundred million?! Keegan went rigid. The phone slipped from his hand and clattered to the floor. That was half a year of Vaughn Group’s cash flow. How was he supposed to go home and explain that?

Then he remembered something and lunged toward the elevator, smashing the button like a madman. “Loyce! Loyce! Get out here and explain!”

The bodyguards yanked him back and threw him out of the building. Marshall was expelled right along with him.
