Loyce took the escalator down to the basement level. It was a stark contrast to the bright, luxurious, and quietly elegant environment upstairs. Although it was well-lit, the shops were packed tightly together, selling discounted clothes, trinkets, miscellaneous goods, and fast food. The air was a mix of various food scents and unidentifiable perfumes, entirely different from the uniform high-end vibe of the luxury boutiques above.
The luxury stores upstairs didn't see many patrons, but down here, there was a fair amount of everyday people shopping with kids or running errands.
Compared to the upper floors, the basement level was actually quite bustling.
Loyce strolled leisurely over to the 'Bloomberry' storefront and paused at the entrance. She noticed that a baby supply store sat to the left, and a fast-food burger joint was on the right. Being squeezed in the middle instantly dragged the brand's aesthetic down. The store itself wasn't large. The few items displayed in the window were new arrivals; under the lights, the fabric patterns and quality were visible, but the design and styling were entirely uninspired.
The lighting inside the store was a ghastly white, making the mountains of backlogged clothing look even cheaper.
There were very few customers. Only a young girl was hesitating by a clothing rack, and a mother-daughter pair was looking at accessories near the register.
Loyce recognized the girl and pushed the door open. The door chime softly announced a guest, but no sales associate immediately approached. Instead, the girl browsing the clothes looked over her shoulder, her troubled expression instantly shifting to a look of pleasant surprise.
"Loyce!"
Giselle Turner put down the clothes and quickly walked over, her eyes sparkling as if she were looking at her idol. "I can't believe I ran into you here! Are you shopping for clothes too?"
"Yes, are you looking at clothes here too?" Loyce asked gently.
Giselle nodded. "I'm a regular at this store."
Loyce reached out and flipped through the knitwear section hanging nearby. "Is that so? I don't think I've ever seen you wear anything from here. The clothes you wear are far better-looking than these."
At that, Giselle immediately lowered her voice, leaning in close to Loyce's ear and whispering, "That's because I always buy the clothes from here, take them home, and redesign them myself."
