She Was the Treasure All Along novel Chapter 461

He had truly fallen for her.

Hopelessly. Irrevocably.

Robert finally gave up and released his grip on Lucian Shapiro. "I'll go get things ready. We'll head out together shortly."

Forcing their way into the mine outside of a safe weather window was practically a death sentence. No one could guarantee if Loyce was even still alive.

In fact, most people assumed she was already dead.

By the time Robert had packed his gear and assembled a squad of soldiers to meet up with Lucian, the man was nowhere to be found at the rendezvous point.

Lucian had taken a page out of Loyce's book. Not wanting to drag others down into a senseless death, he had chosen to venture into the treacherous mountain range alone to find her.

Shortly after Lucian disappeared into the harsh terrain, another commotion erupted at the camp's entrance.

Several mud-splattered SUVs with specialized license plates slammed on their brakes.

The doors flew open. Gordon Lonsdale stepped out first, heavily supported by his family. Morris and Hank Lonsdale followed closely behind. All three wore expressions of extreme, barely repressed emotion.

Morris's tailored suit was soaked by the relentless rain, his usually mild demeanor replaced by a palpable, frantic edge.

Hank, wearing a tactical vest, looked positively murderous. The moment his boots hit the ground, he violently shoved aside an aide trying to hold an umbrella over him. His hawk-like gaze swept over the chaotic camp, desperately searching for the one person he needed to see.

"Where is my sister?!" Hank's low roar was more terrifying than the thunder. "Where is Loyce?!"

Robert stepped forward to deliver the grim report. He explained the sudden crisis and how Loyce, refusing to burden anyone else and determined to save Forrest Lonsdale, had ventured into the deadly mountain range all by herself.

Gordon almost collapsed. Clutching his chest as his breathing grew ragged, the color completely drained from his face. The eyes of the Lonsdale patriarch, a man who had weathered countless storms, were now filled with a devastating mix of disbelief, panic, and agony. "Nonsense! Absolute nonsense! Is that... is that a place anyone can just walk into?! Why didn't you stop her?! Why?!"

He had finally found his precious granddaughter. He hadn't even had the chance to properly make up for lost time, to spoil and love her—and now, to save his grandson, she had walked alone into a deathtrap?!
