She Was the Treasure All Along novel Chapter 24

“Is that so?” Lucian’s lips tipped into a cold, mocking half-smile. “Sapphire, the so-called genius doctor, doesn’t even know high-purity Nexo-7 needs detox treatment? With that level of fakery, I can’t trust you with my care.”

He hung up without waiting for Purity to respond, then looked at Sapphire with a cold, indifferent gaze. “Unless you’re saying your skills are better than Purity’s.”

Watching Sapphire’s panic, and the way Byron’s arrogance evaporated in an instant, Loyce’s eyes curved with amusement. “Maybe she really is.”

How could Sapphire dare offend her own grandmother? Having her dignity shredded in front of so many doctors left her mortified, but she still had to apologize to Lucian. “I spoke out of turn. Nexo-7 is difficult to produce, and information on it is limited. Outside of specialized pharmaceutical labs, most people wouldn’t know high-purity formulations are toxic. But that has nothing to do with Mr. Lonsdale’s procedure. I can treat him. Please give me another chance.”

Lucian couldn’t be bothered to say another word to her. He only turned his head and asked Loyce, “The person you saved at school was Forrest Lonsdale. A collapsed lung, he barely made it. Then tests found other issues. Will you go take a look?”

Forrest’s face flashed through Loyce’s mind. She did feel a faint familiarity with the man she’d only met once, but she didn’t agree. She only said, “It’s not a rare case. You can have him get surgery at the military hospital. Their surgeons are fine. It’s not like I have to be the one to do it.”

Lucian didn’t push. “Okay.”

As for the fake vial, he tossed it into the trash without hesitation. His eyes swept over Byron, icy and merciless. “Looks like the Sampson family and the Walsh family are both nothing but a bunch of frauds.”
