The door to the medical bay was kicked open, and a slender figure strolled casually inside.
“Who said this piece of junk doesn't have problems?”
The young woman’s voice was cool and clear, like a winter wind freezing the surface of a lake.
Jasmine spun around, her eyes widening in disbelief. “Who let this civilian in here?” she snapped. “Get her out!”
Despite her order, the soldiers standing guard at the door remained perfectly still.
“Remove her at once!” Caden barked.
“Who dares,” Lucian’s voice dropped, and a chilling aura radiated from him. The soldiers outside, still loyal to him, did not move.
Robert stepped forward. “Loyce’s pass is still valid. She was granted unrestricted access to the naval base and was escorted onto the warship by Hazel.”
Hazel poked her head in for a second before quickly retreating, not wanting to get caught in the crossfire of the tense showdown.
Meredith frowned at the newcomer. “What are you doing here? Since when is someone like you associated with the Shapiro family?”
Jasmine couldn’t believe Lucian would allow this vapid girlfriend of his to cause a scene at a time like this. Wasn’t he embarrassed?
“If you actually cared about Lucian, you’d be at home, staying out of his way,” she spat.
“Indeed. This young woman has no manners and clearly doesn't understand military protocol,” Caden added condescendingly. “You should leave now. Do you really think a little girl like you could…”
“...turn the tables?” Loyce finished for him. She walked directly to the Naval Commander and handed him a file. “This is a full physical examination Lucian underwent at the military housing compound this morning, with a focus on his neurological condition. The report was co-signed by ten of the hospital’s top specialists. The consultation records are clear, and the discrepancy between their findings and this machine’s report is… significant.”
The Naval Commander took the file and began to read. After a moment, he passed it to Jasmine. “Take a look at this.”
