She Was the Treasure All Along novel Chapter 152

The doctor was taken aback. “That’s against protocol.”

“I'm a soldier and a certified combat medic. I'm licensed to practice. Shrapnel from specially manufactured weapons like this is different from the ordinary kind. Your method could easily cause a hemorrhage.”

Lucian took the medical tools and sat opposite Loyce. His well-defined fingers looked stark white under the surgical light. As he leaned in, the collar of his uniform brushed past her nose, carrying the scent of gunpowder and cedar.

“Bear with me. I’ll be quick,” he said, his voice low. His right hand held the forceps with perfect stability. “Relax your muscles.”

“I know. Go ahead.”

Just as Loyce was about to bite down on her lower lip, a warm finger pressed against it. “Bite me if it hurts.”

Lucian cradled the back of her head with his left hand, letting her rest against his shoulder. The position made the doctor gasp—the metal fragments embedded in her flesh glinted coldly with her slight tremors. It was excruciating. Loyce bit down on his finger, her teeth sinking into his flesh without hesitation.

Lucian’s expression didn’t so much as flicker. He remained completely focused on treating her wound until the last piece of shrapnel was removed, at which point his tense body finally relaxed.

Loyce released her bite. A clear set of teeth marks, mixed with traces of blood and saliva, was visible on his palm. She had clearly broken the skin.

Lucian glanced down at the bite mark, a barely perceptible smile playing on his lips. “A stronger bite than I expected. You’re quite the fierce little kitten.”

He grabbed a piece of medical gauze and casually wiped the blood from his hand, his movements so detached it was as if the wound wasn’t his.

Loyce stared at the bleeding imprint and frowned. “Aren’t you going to treat that?”
