She Was the Treasure All Along novel Chapter 151

Yorick was rendered speechless by his rebuke.

Loyce chimed in at the right moment. “It wasn’t entirely Yorick’s fault. The Newbrook Museum must have leaked the information, which is what attracted the robbers.”

Lucian narrowed his eyes, his displeasure evident. His gaze seemed to scream, “You dare defend him?”

Loyce had rarely felt such an overwhelming presence from anyone; even she was affected. But she held his gaze and said calmly, “If you don’t get me to a hospital soon, my blood is going to ruin your clothes.”

Lucian’s pupils contracted. His arm muscles tensed as he pulled her closer into his embrace. “Let’s go.”

His combat boots crunched heavily on the sand, each step carrying a suffocating weight.

Yorick chased after them, unwilling to give up. “At least let me come to the hospital!”

“Go back and tell your grandmother you’re safe.” Lucian shot him a final glance over his shoulder, his entire being exuding the menace of a coiled predator. “Take one more step, and I won’t mind putting you in an ambulance, too.”

Yorick froze, startled by the murderous aura radiating from the man before him. He had never seen Lucian like this—it was a look reserved for enemies on the battlefield.

Was he being treated as an enemy?

The night wind carried the scent of blood as Loyce noticed the veins bulging on the side of Lucian’s neck. She suddenly reached out, her blood-stained fingertips resting gently on his Adam’s apple. “Lucian.”
