“Right now, the entire upper crust is watching this unfold. The spotlight isn’t just on me; it’s on Sybil, too.” Loyce smiled. “Ever since I returned quietly, everyone who learned my identity thought I wasn’t worthy of being a Lonsdale. I used to think family matters shouldn’t be influenced by outsiders, but I neglected to consider the pride of you, my brothers and my grandfather. As a Lonsdale, I have to show them that I, Loyce, am just as exceptional.”

Her words moved her brothers and grandfather deeply.

Hank was the first to voice his support, though he had his reservations. “So, what’s your plan, Loyce?”

“The national qualifiers for the International Steinway Piano Competition open for registration tonight,” Loyce announced. “I’m going to compete.”

Hank, who knew nothing about music, looked confused. “What’s that?”

“It’s one of the world’s most prestigious piano competitions, held every four years. It’s known as the Olympics of the piano world,” Morris explained, then looked at his sister, puzzled. “But it’s not time for the competition yet. Where did you hear that registration was open?”

Loyce gave him a mysterious smile. “I saw it on their website. Registration starts at 8 PM.”

Morris shook his head. “That can’t be right. The Steinway competition is famously punctual; the organizers have never moved the date. And because of the event’s prestige, everything from planning to registration is kept confidential. Loyce, you might have seen a fake news report.”

Forrest added, “I’ll have the PR team suppress the rumors for now, just in

case.”

“Don’t,” Loyce said, glancing at the clock. “Let’s just wait and see what happens at eight.”

Seeing her so insistent, her brothers agreed. She was their sister, and they would spoil her. If she got into trouble, they would protect her with everything they had.

What they didn’t know was that Loyce, in her capacity as ‘X‘ had made a single phone call to have the competition’s schedule moved up.

At exactly 8 PM, the competition’s official website was updated, announcing the time, location, registration process, and prizes–everything just as Loyce had said.

When Morris saw the registration portal go live, his pupils contracted sharply, his fingers unconsciously tightening on the edge of his tablet.

‘It’s really open,” he murmured, quickly refreshing the page to confirm it wasn’t a prank.

Noticing his brother’s shock, Hank leaned over to look. A grin spread across his face. “Loyce was right!”

“This shouldn’t be possible,” Morris said, baffled. “Even the president couldn’t get those music purists to breathe a single word about the schedule, let alone leak it in advance.”

Forrest sipped his wine languidly. “Morris, it’s normal for a girl to have her secrets. If she doesn’t want to tell us, we shouldn’t press. What matters is that she’s happy.”

Morris rubbed his forehead. “I know we should prioritize Loyce’s wishes. It’s just… I think she knows the organizers of the Steinway competition. No, it’s more than just knowing them.”

“Hey, Morris, tell me,” Hank said, “how good is Loyce at the piano? I can tell it sounds nice, but I can’t really judge who’s better.”

“Loyce is a natural–born musician,” Morris stated simply.

Forrest let out an ill–timed chuckle. Morris shot him a look. “What’s so funny?”

Forrest covered his mouth slightly. “Oh, nothing. It’s just that when I was in the hospital for my surgery, I heard the doctors and nurses there say the same thing–that our Loyce is a natural–born doctor.”

Hank sighed in amazement. “It looks like our Loyce is a real genius! Why were we even worried?”

As the fabricated video continued to spread, the Lonsdale family’s silence was misinterpreted. People began to wonder if the rumors were true. Maybe Loyce wasn’t as favored as they thought? Otherwise, why would the Lonsdales just stand by while she was being torn apart by gossip?

Alicia had been secretly monitoring the Lonsdales‘ movements and had come to the same conclusion. She’d been expecting them to come after her and had even prepared her defense.

Sybil, however, felt a growing unease. She’d been burned before. “Mom, what if this is another one of Loyce’s traps?”

Alicia mulled it over, convinced she had figured it out. “Gerard’s work has always been flawless,” she said with a confident smile. “The Lonsdales must have hired an expert to verify the video and concluded that the one online is real, while Loyce’s was fake. They’re likely disappointed that she lied to them.”

Sybil’s eyes lit up. “So what’s our next move?”
