Finn silently swallowed a mouthful of soup, not answering her question.
Evangeline found his reaction a little strange.
Usually, in situations like this, Finn would analyze it with her and point her in the right direction.
But then Evangeline thought better of it. Maybe she was being too hasty. After all, he was still recovering from serious injuries and was physically weak. It was probably too much to ask him to rack his brain over these things.
She was about to change the subject when Finn spoke up in a low voice.
“Evangeline, she…”
Before he could finish, a ringing sound interrupted him.
Evangeline’s attention was drawn away. She pulled out her phone and saw it was an unknown number. After a moment's thought, she stepped out onto the balcony to answer it.
After UME’s latest smart robot project went viral, the business cards Evangeline had handed out were no longer just for show. Lately, she had been receiving a steady stream of partnership offers.
Even many of the Fawkes family’s clients had reached out to her.
Evangeline remembered that some of them had been quite rude to her in the past and had spoken ill of her, but she knew how to separate business interests from personal grievances.
If a grudge was too hard to let go, she’d just mark up the price—still within a reasonable range, of course.
Those clients, feeling guilty, didn't dare to push for a lower price.
Evangeline answered the call and realized, after the person on the other end spoke through a translator, that it was a foreign company.
“We need thirty thousand units of your top-tier smart robot, and we need them within six months. Can you do that?”
Thirty thousand units?
Evangeline’s spirits lifted instantly. This was the largest order UME had ever received.
But she didn't let the joy cloud her judgment. She remained cautious and asked if they needed to conduct a site visit first.
Evangeline paused.
“Alright,” she finally agreed after a moment.
She couldn't refuse. Their order was just too large to pass up.
In Serenity City, only UME and Fawkes Enterprises had made a name for themselves in this field. The client had shown great sincerity by coming all the way here. If UME was neglectful, they might become dissatisfied and turn to Fawkes Enterprises instead. That would be a huge loss for her.
After hanging up, Evangeline returned to the hospital room.
Finn noticed her good mood and the smile on her face.
He smiled back. “What’s up?”
Evangeline told him about the call she had just received.
Her voice was filled with joy. “When Glenn moved UME back to the country, he signed a VAM agreement with a foreign company. The profit from thirty thousand units will be more than enough for him to win the bet.”
