Save Her Lose Us (Evangeline and Soren) novel Chapter 457

In her desperation, Evangeline had considered telling the truth about Theresa to save Finn’s life.

But in the end, she couldn't do it.

She remembered the lifeless look in Tessa’s eyes, the very thing that had driven her to help the girl escape her hellish existence. The last time she’d seen Tessa, her eyes had been filled with hope for the future. She had seen her long-lost smile, a spark of life rekindled.

She couldn’t be the one to snatch away the hope she had personally handed her.

As long as Victor believed Tessa was dead, Tessa’s nightmare would finally be over. The future Tessa could live freely, as a completely new person.

Evangeline looked at Finn, her eyes fixed on Victor’s finger tightening on the trigger.

“Finn, I’m so sorry,” she whispered, her eyes red as she squeezed them shut. “I’ll come be with you.”

She could never repay her debt to him. If there was a next life, she would do anything to make it up to him.

“Tessa’s not dead! She’s alive!”

Just as Victor was about to fire, Glenn’s sharp, frantic voice cut through the air from behind them.

Evangeline stiffened, struggling to look back.

Silhouetted against a harsh light, Glenn and Arabella were rushing toward them.

Victor’s hand paused, and he turned to face the newcomers.

Seeing Glenn, he raised an eyebrow and then let out a low, rumbling laugh.

“Glenn, I let you go last time out of respect for you being Tessa’s brother.”

“Do you really think I’ll fall for that nonsense again?”

“I’m not lying this time,” Glenn said, his gaze firm. He pulled something from his pocket and held it out. “This is from Tessa. She sent it for me to give to you.”

As he walked forward, he glanced toward Evangeline.

As if sensing his intent, Victor shoved Evangeline backward like a piece of trash, tossing her to his bodyguards. “Watch her.”

Evangeline stumbled, and before she could regain her footing, her arms were pinned, rendering her immobile.

Glenn clenched his fists, then slowly relaxed them. He held the envelope out to Victor.

Victor’s eyes widened for a fraction of a second when he saw the handwriting on the envelope. He quickly recovered, his movements a strange mix of urgency and care as he tore it open and pulled out the letter inside.

“Don’t touch her.”

The note contained only three words. It was obvious who “her” referred to.

Arabella started, quickly shaking her head. “Sorry, Victor, I didn’t mean that. Finn was in the wrong here. I apologize for the trouble he’s caused.”

With that, she helped Finn up, ready to leave.

But Finn didn’t move. He looked back, his gaze still locked on Evangeline.

Arabella said to Glenn, “Glenn, what are you waiting for? Get Evangeline and take them both to the hospital.”

Glenn snapped out of his trance and started forward.

But the bodyguards showed no intention of letting her go. Madden, understanding Victor’s silent command, stepped forward to block his path.

Glenn looked at Victor.

Victor was gently stroking the gun in his hand. “Not so fast,” he said softly. “She can’t leave just yet.”

Glenn’s heart sank.

He suppressed his rising anger and said through gritted teeth, “Victor, Evangeline is Tessa’s best friend. She told you not to touch her.”

Victor shot him a look, a faint smile playing on his lips. “I’m not going to kill her.”

“But that bullet she put in me… I intend to return it in kind.”
