Save Her Lose Us (Evangeline and Soren) novel Chapter 445

"You're new?" the bodyguard asked Theresa.

Theresa nodded.

This bodyguard had been with Victor even before she left Serenity City. Theresa was wearing heavy makeup, but she wasn't sure if he would recognize her.

So, instead of her normal voice, she deliberately adopted a thick, unrefined accent. "Supervisor told me to clean here."

The bodyguard fell silent after she spoke.

At first, he had felt a strange sense of familiarity from her.

But now, listening to her butchered speech and looking at her caked-on, greasy makeup, the bodyguard thought he was probably just imagining things.

He pointed to Victor's room and said, "You are not to enter that room."

"Be quiet while you clean, and leave this floor as soon as you're done."

After giving his instructions and seeing Theresa nod, the bodyguard thought no more of it and turned to escort the doctor out.

Before Theresa could even breathe a sigh of relief, a voice crackled from the bodyguard's walkie-talkie.

"Evangeline has left Mr. Lockridge's house."

"She's alone now. Do we move in?"

Theresa's heart leaped into her throat.

The bodyguard's attention was now entirely on the news about Evangeline, and he didn't notice Theresa's reaction.

He didn't hesitate. "Move in."

It was a foregone conclusion that Victor wanted Evangeline dead for what happened to Theresa.

Capturing Evangeline now, while Finn wasn't around, was a much better option than letting Victor and Finn come to blows when Finn inevitably tried to protect her.

Theresa watched the bodyguard leave, her heart pounding with panic. She immediately sent a text message to Finn.

Finn replied quickly, promising he would handle it.

But Theresa was still uneasy.

Her mind was in turmoil.

She had never imagined that she would be the cause of so much trouble for Evangeline.

When she left Serenity City, even Evangeline didn't know where she had gone. She thought Victor would, at most, harass her for a while and then give up when it was clear Evangeline knew nothing.

But she never thought he would try to torture Evangeline to death.

She had come upstairs to find out about Victor's condition. Now, not only had she learned from their conversation that he was getting better, but she had also witnessed firsthand the danger Evangeline was in because of her.

Hearing it from Soren was one thing, but confirming it with her own ears was an entirely different feeling.

Theresa clenched her fists tightly, feeling both guilty and furious.
