Not a single one of them believed Murin’s words.
They were not three years old children who could be easily fooled with such sentence. Besides, it didn’t seem to be suitable for Murin’s image to back down so easily.
"Forget it if you don’t want to say anything." Dina raised her hand as she looked at Murin coldly. "Is there anything else that you need to tell us?"
"The cracks cleaning."
When these three words were said, everyone’s expression changed slightly. Riya and Samuel had already planned to enter the crack on their own and explored it to reach the depths. But the other three never had any plan to explore the cracks on their own due to the danger presented within it.
They all knew that they couldn’t be reckless and even if they have some life saving methods, not everything would be useful.
The only thing they could do was to make sure that they didn’t go too deep and ready to return at any time.
"Did they say anything?" Peter frowned.
"There’ll be a joint cleaning in the near future," Murin said in a low voice. "You better not try to stab me from the back."
"I can say the same to you." Dina sneered.
"I think the one who wanted to kill us is you," Peter continued.
"No matter what the government is planning to do, I don’t plan to go with you," Samuel interrupted from the side. "I already have my own plans for the cracks."
Riya nodded. "Same with Samuel."
Murin shrugged when he heard their answer.
To be honest, he didn’t understand why those people from the Magic Association wanted him to be the one to convey this message to these five people. But perhaps, those people already knew that these five people couldn’t be controlled through normal means and only in this way would it be possible for them to listen to their words.
Murin didn’t care and simply patted the magic beast under him.
"Then you better keep your words."
"Tsk."
"Is there anything else?"
In the end, Murin only said a few more words about the mission given to him by the Magic Association before leaving with his magic beast.
Seeing him flying so quickly, Dina arched her eyebrows with interest. "It seems that he’s really afraid just now."
"His magic beast nearly died," Peter said and yawned. It was already night time and the sky had darkened. If it was not because Murin still has some words to say, Peter really wanted to leave first and didn’t stay here any longer.
As for how he knew this matter, it was quite obvious in his eyes.
For Peter who had strong body and very sensitive to the aura of these magic beasts, he could sense that after Samuel’s attack, one of the magic beast was on the verge of death. With timely treatment, it should be fine, but Murin wouldn’t be happy to have his magic beast hurt so much.
The cooperation between Samuel and Riya were really good.
None of them were actually under military or direct order of the government.
With their temperament, how could they be wiling to stay under someone?
It was impossible.
They valued their freedom greatly and also knew that the government’s words were not that valuable for them. The only reason why they were willing to listen to the higher ups’ words so far was because they felt it was beneficial to them or it was convenient.
No matter what the reason is, none of them were wiling to sacrifice themselves for the sake of the people.
None of them were truly selfless.
In a way, they were actually very selfish.
As they would move forward towards their own goal, with their bottom line somewhat flexible and could be adjusted in accordance to what they needed.
"I’m going back," Ruth also said and then turned around without hesitation. She did agree to help the higher ups, but she would not be wiling to sacrifice herself either.
If the higher ups plan to enter the crack was to enter deep...
Then she would refuse.
No matter what, nothing is more valuable than being alive and being able to relive her life again in this world.
