Seeing Rachel Ward looking so serious, Theresa grew even more curious.
Just who was this new colleague anyway?
Everyone slowly filtered back to their desks.
A few nosy coworkers immediately scurried over to Rachel Ward's desk to fish for details, with Charles leading the pack.
"Ms. Ward, what's the deal with this new girl?"
Rachel Ward lowered her voice. "Didn't I just tell you? She's got friends in high places. Connect the dots."
Charles flashed a sly smile. "Ms. Ward, you're being a little vague, don't you think? I bet you know more than you're letting on. Come on, considering how well we work together, just tell me. Help a guy out so I don't step on any toes."
Rachel Ward shot Charles a knowing look. "Don't think I don't know exactly what you're scheming. Fine, I'll tell you the truth. From what I've gathered, this new hire has direct ties to the Chairman. So, you know what to do."
Charles was completely shocked. "The Chairman! You don't mean... it's the Chairman's daughter?"
"You catch on quick. During the executive meeting today, I overheard some people talking about the Chairman's daughter starting an internship at our company. It's practically guaranteed to be her! Otherwise, management wouldn't have gone out of their way to warn us."
"Thanks, Ms. Ward. Message received. Dinner's on me this weekend!"
Charles's mind was already racing with plans. The Chairman's daughter—he absolutely had to get on her good side.
He couldn't afford to let a golden opportunity like this slip away.
The office was a hotbed for gossip, and rumors spread faster than wildfire.
The intel Charles got from Rachel Ward circulated through the room in seconds.
Theresa could hear the coworkers behind her whispering to each other.
"Hey, did you hear? The new girl is connected to the Chairman!"
