Bianca thought Jonathan would try to explain himself. Instead, he turned around and slapped Gloria across the face.
"This is all because of your instigation, you useless girl! What kind of photos were those? How dare you slander your sister like that! I'll deal with you later."
After scolding her, he barked at Kate, "And you, clean this up quickly! Sean is about to come in!"
Kate didn't dare delay. She picked up the ashtray and ordered the servants to bring the hot soup out from the kitchen immediately.
"Quick, wipe Bianca's face!" Jonathan was in a complete panic.
He personally took a towel and wiped the blood from the corner of Bianca's mouth and the dirt from her face.
Bianca remained expressionless, watching the family perform their frantic play.
At that moment, Sean appeared.
"Mr. Maddox! Welcome to our home! It's an honor, truly an honor!" Jonathan rushed forward to greet him.
Sean glanced at Bianca, who was standing beside Jonathan, and noticed her hair was a bit messy.
He ignored Jonathan and walked straight to Bianca. Gently, he tucked a stray lock of hair behind her ear.
"What happened? Why is your mouth swollen?" Sean asked softly.
The gentle, magnetic voice was something even Bianca couldn't quite believe.
Was this the same cold-faced Sean she had met this morning?
She was momentarily at a loss for words.
Perhaps because she had just had a brush with death, her heart was now eerily calm, even a bit weary.
Pretending was exhausting.
Seeing Sean's concern for Bianca, Jonathan was now certain that there was something going on between them.
"Mr. Maddox, it's like this. Bianca and her sister had a little verbal disagreement, and things got a bit physical. It's normal for sisters to fight. Mr. Maddox, please don't take it to heart. I've already disciplined Gloria!" Jonathan didn't know where to put his hands.
"Mom, why would Sean be interested in her? I'm obviously a hundred times better looking than she is!"
Seeing how tender Sean was with Bianca, Gloria was dying of jealousy.
They had been so close to crippling Bianca.
But Sean had saved the day at the last second.
"Shut your mouth! The situation isn't good for us. Later at the table, remember to toast that little tramp and apologize. Do you hear me?"
"Yes," Gloria muttered, pouting reluctantly.
At the dinner table, Jonathan felt awkward. After the earlier incident, the atmosphere between him and Bianca was strained.
"Mr. Maddox, here, let me toast you. It's a pleasure to meet you. I had no idea you and Bianca were a couple. The child should have told me sooner!" Jonathan held up his wine glass, smiling sheepishly.
Sean remained impassive, but he raised his glass and drank, giving Jonathan some face.
