He was curious how Elena acquired such skills, but he didn't ask.
He knew Elena's personality; she didn't like people prying into her background. All he needed to do was silently stand by her.
One day, he would walk into her heart and learn everything about her.
Meanwhile, Mrs. Holt had arrived to pick up her son.
She asked sternly, "What on earth happened? You're causing trouble again!"
"Mom, I didn't. Someone tried to attack me. Elena saved me."
Mrs. Holt paused. "Elena?"
"Yeah, she's incredible. If not for her, I definitely would have been beaten up."
Mrs. Holt glanced over at Elena. She continued, "That young girl really is decent. I liked her back when the engagement was arranged. Her personality is a bit cold, but she's much better than that biological daughter of the Sterling family. If only she could be my daughter-in-law."
"Mom, wait a second. I need to go say hello." Max hurried toward Elena.
Dylan's face turned green. This kid still dared to approach her?
"Elena! Elena!"
"Is there something else?" Elena asked indifferently.
Max felt Dylan's glaring gaze and swallowed hard.
Wasn't he just a delivery guy? Why was he looking at him like that? He couldn't figure out what Elena saw in him.
If not for the whole biological-versus-adopted daughter mess, it wouldn't have been Dylan's turn.
"Elena, regardless, thank you for saving me today."
"Thank me for what? Those people were coming for me. They wouldn't have beaten you."
Max fell silent.
He had assumed the group was his enemies.
After all, as a rich playboy, he had offended plenty of people.
Mrs. Holt walked over and suddenly took Elena's hand with enthusiasm.
