Marcia slammed her bag on York's desk, her hands braced on the edge.
She stared at him, her expression dead serious. "Mr. Ferguson, this afternoon, outside Serene Skin Studio, a woman named Ann, who claims to be your ex-girlfriend..."
York, unfazed, reminded her, "Get to the point."
"I don't even know this ex-girlfriend of yours," Marcia continued, "but she was adamant that I'm your fiancée, that I tricked her into coming back to the country, and that I drove a wedge between you two, causing you to misunderstand her. And then she attacked me in public!"
"Have you two met before?" York asked.
"Your ex-girlfriend said she saw a wedding photo of you and me on your computer!" Marcia exclaimed. "Mr. Ferguson, I demand an explanation!"
York calmly retorted, "I took wedding photos with you, Miss Windsor? I don't seem to recall that."
Marcia straightened up, slowly regaining her composure.
"Your ex-girlfriend said she saw it on your computer. You can have her confront me."
York rose slowly. "Miss Windsor, the woman you're talking about tried to set me up, scammed my grandfather out of sixty million, and stole a confidential company file while I was away. I had her sent to the police twice. It was only because Mr. Quinn intervened that I let her off the hook. Are you really going to believe a word from someone like that?"
Marcia felt a pang of regret.
Although she rarely interacted with York, she'd heard plenty about his ruthless tactics in the business world.
She had been too impulsive. She shouldn't have come to confront him just because of a slap and a few inflammatory words from a crazy woman.
"I'm sorry, Mr. Ferguson," Marcia said immediately. "It was wrong of me to bother you before investigating the matter properly."
York told her, "I don't know how you offended her, Miss Windsor, but it's clear she's using you as a pawn."
Marcia's fists clenched in anger.
