My Husband's Affair My Anniversary Gift (Lily and David) novel Chapter 276

She smiled a little awkwardly. After university, she had gone straight into work. Long hours, constant pressure. There had been no time left for friends.

“So,” John asked, “what do you do now?”

“I work at Grey Corporation,” she replied. “I’m Mr. Grey’s secretary.”

His eyes widened. “Seriously? That’s huge. Grey is massive.”

She nodded. “What about you?”

“I’m running an entertainment company now,” he said with a hint of pride. “Northstar Media.”

“Really?” Riyana’s face lit up. “You became a CEO? That’s amazing.”

“You could say that,” he replied with a small grin.

Then he suddenly remembered something. “Oh, wait. I have something for you.”

He reached into his coat pocket and took out two tickets, handing them to her.

She looked down at them. “What’s this?”

“My new movie’s special screening,” he said. “I want you to come. I gave you two tickets, so bring your partner.”

She chuckled. “Partner?”

“Are you married?” he asked carefully.

“No,” she replied honestly. “But I’ll see if I can come. Thank you so much.”

His smile grew brighter when he heard that. “Don’t just think about it. You must come.”

“Alright,” she said, nodding. “I’ll try.”

“Good,” he said. “We should catch up properly.”

“Of course.”

Just then, his phone rang. He glanced at the screen and sighed. “I have to go.”

Before leaving, he held up his phone. “Give me your number. Let’s stay in touch.”

Riyana took the phone, typed in her number, and handed it back.

“Save mine,” he said, giving her a missed call.

She saved his number on her phone.

“See you soon,” he said, hugging her once more before walking away. As he left, he waved back at her more than once.

Riyana laughed softly, watching him go.

Then, suddenly, she felt a chill run down her spine.

It was that strange feeling of being watched.

She turned around.

Jabco was standing a few steps away, his face dark, his eyes fixed on her. The way he looked at her made her uneasy, like she had been caught doing something wrong.

What was wrong with him?

Jabco had just come out of the restroom, looking for her, and what he saw made his chest tighten. A man standing too close. Laughing. Hugging her. Then her giving him her number, smiling so freely.

Anger rose before he could stop it.

He didn’t like it. Not one bit.

He hated the way that man looked at her. Hated how comfortable she seemed. A sharp, unfamiliar feeling twisted inside him, something close to jealousy, though he refused to name it.

She had gone on a blind date. She had talked about marriage. She had handed in her resignation. Everything felt sudden. Out of control.

Without saying a word, Jabco turned and walked straight toward the exit.
