After Noah’s party ended, Noah insisted on dropping Lily home, but she was already too drunk. She could barely walk straight, so Lily didn’t argue much and quietly called a taxi for herself. She didn’t want to trouble Noah further.
When the taxi dropped her off in front of her apartment, the night was quiet. She swiped her card, opened the door, and stepped inside. But the moment she walked in, her steps froze.
The apartment lights were all on.
Her brows knitted together. She never left the lights on. And no one else had access to her place.
A wave of uneasiness washed over her. She glanced around, clutching her bag tighter. No… David doesn’t have my keys. I never gave him the password. Noah? Impossible, I just left her back at the club. Claire? No, she went out of town this morning.
So who could it be?
Her pulse raced as she slowly, cautiously stepped further inside. The apartment was spacious, with a second floor she had never once explored, but the sound wasn’t coming from upstairs.
It was coming from her bedroom.
Her heart skipped. The faint sound of water running reached her ears. The shower. Someone was inside her bathroom.
She swallowed hard, palms starting to sweat.
“Who… who is it?” Lily called out, her voice trembling.
There was no reply. For a few seconds, only the sound of running water filled the air. Then, suddenly, the shower turned off.
The bathroom door creaked open.
Lily’s breath hitched.
A tall man stepped out, steam curling around him. He looked late in his twenties, with fair skin and sharp, beautiful features that almost seemed unreal. A towel hung loosely around his hips, water dripping from his hair and down his chest.
Lily’s eyes widened in shock before she quickly turned her head away, her cheeks burning.
“Who are you?!” she demanded, her voice shaky but firm. “And what are you doing in my house?”
The man looked just as startled for a second, but then a playful smirk curved his lips. He stepped forward casually, his bare feet making soft sounds against the floor.
“Your house?” he repeated, his tone soft but carrying a teasing lilt that made Lily even more on edge. “I think you’re mistaken. This is my house. The real question is...who are you? And what are you doing here?”
His voice was low and velvety, with a flirty undertone he didn’t even seem to notice.
