Just as Daniel was about to call Benjamin to get someone to exorcise their father, William spoke up again.

“Daniel, from now on, watch your tone.

“Lester isn’t an outsider. He’s family.

“He’s your biological older brother, Samuel.

“You need to treat him with the same respect you show Benjamin. Understand?”

William was never one to beat around the bush. He didn’t hide Lester’s identity. He announced it right then and there.

He also handed the paternity test results to Daniel. After passing them over, he didn’t wait for Daniel’s reaction. Instead, he scooped up Nina, who had already waddled over.

“Nina, come here. This is your real Uncle Sam, your dad’s older brother,” William explained gently. “From now on, Lester is part of our family. Are you happy?”

William asked Nina, and her response was much more enthusiastic.

She blinked her big eyes and chirped out clearly, “Un-coo Sam!”

After saying it, she giggled, looking utterly delighted.

While Nina was over the moon, Daniel held the paternity test and showed no sign of happiness. He looked like he’d been struck by lightning.

Even with the test in hand, Daniel couldn’t believe it.

“No, that’s impossible,” he insisted, his voice strained. “This is fake, right? Dad, did you use my sample for this? Like a hair I dropped or something?”

His questioning made William’s eyes twitch violently. Then, William smacked him on the back of the head.

“Stop messing around!” William snapped, glaring at his son who refused to accept his own brother. “This is your brother! If you keep talking nonsense, you’re asking for trouble!”

It had been a long time since Daniel had been hit by his father. He rubbed his head, still defiant.

“I just think it’s weird, okay? It’s been so many years, and Samuel just pops up out of nowhere. Don’t you think that’s strange, Dad?”

Daniel had never spent time with Samuel. William had carefully put away all the photos and videos of Samuel. He rarely showed them to Daniel.

William looked at them often himself, and Benjamin had copies too. Daniel couldn’t understand that kind of pain.

Seeing Daniel struggling to accept the news, Nina reached out a chubby little hand and tugged on his pants.

“Un-coo Dan’el. It’s Un-coo Sam!” Nina said, having already switched to calling Lester “Un-coo Sam.”

She was getting better at talking now. Sometimes her words were very clear.

With a serious look on her little face, she introduced Lester to Daniel. “Family!”

Hearing Nina’s sweet, soft little voice, Daniel’s emotions slowly calmed.

He looked at the paternity test results again. After reading them, his handsome face tightened. This time, he didn’t deny it.

He just took a picture of the report with his phone and walked out of the hospital room.

“Alright, I need to… study this report some more,” Daniel said, claiming he needed to review it. But the moment he left the room, his composed expression completely cracked.

He hurriedly strode to a corner of the stairwell and video-called Erik.

Erik, busy with who-knows-what, didn’t answer at first. Daniel had to call several times before Erik finally picked up.

As soon as the video connected, Erik started complaining.

“What’s so urgent? I’m in the middle of something,” Erik said, about to hang up.

But Daniel’s next sentence froze him in place,

“We found my brother Samuel!”

Erik, who’d been desperate to hang up a second ago, immediately sat down and tore open a bag of chips with one hand.

“Okay, my stuff can wait,” Erik said, munching on chips. “Spill the details.”

Erik crunched away, waiting for Daniel to feed him the gossip. Seeing his friend’s eager, gossip- hungry face, Daniel’s gaze turned icy.
