Miracle Cutie (Amelia and Benjamin) novel Chapter 44

Chapter 44 When Did I Say I’d Help Her?

In Averton, Zoe, whose career had hit rock bottom, was desperately seeking a glimmer of hope.

After going through a whole lot of trouble and pulling in favors from many, she finally managed to get an audience with Freya Wilson, the esteemed heiress of the Wilson family.

The Wilson family and the Graham family shared a long-standing amicable relationship.

Word on the street was that Freya and Benjamin had a childhood betrothal.

Zoe thought that if Freya were to step in and vouch for her, those pesky scandals swirling around her might just be swept under the rug.

With a drawn-out face and a voice thick with desperation, Zoe approached Freya. “Ms. Wilson, you’re my last shot here. That Daniel, he’s the one who leaked all that crap about me online. He’s got it in for me, pure and simple.

“Ms. Wilson, if you give me a hand, I’ll make it worth your while. The shows I’ve been in this year and all my brand deals? They’ve been off the charts in terms of stats. Just help me out, and I won’t let you down.”

Zoe was laying it all on the line, trying to prove her worth to Freya.

Even though she’d been promoted to fame by Daniel, there was no denying that she was currently one of the most talked-about up-and-coming stars in the entertainment scene.

Her popularity was through the roof.

The only reason those negative stories were still making the rounds was that no one in the industry wanted to get on Daniel’s bad side.

And if they didn’t want to mess with him, they sure as hell weren’t going to help Zoe.

Zoe was really putting on the waterworks as she begged.

Freya, with a casual glance in her direction, suddenly spoke up, “Can you still whip up those chocolate cakes?”

Zoe was caught off guard.

Freya flashed a smile. “I remember having one of your chocolate cakes ages ago. It was out of this world. Make me another batch, will you?”

Freya had also been present when Daniel had that close-call.

It was all such a blur back then, and she barely remembered much about Zoe.

But that plate of chocolate cakes? That was etched in her memory.

The taste was just unforgettable.

The fact that Freya didn’t outright reject her but instead made a request gave Zoe a sliver of hope.

However, when Zoe thought about making those cakes, a complex look crossed her face.

Biting her lip, she said, “Ms. Wilson, it’s been ages since I last made them. I’d like to go home and practice a bit before bringing them to you. Is that okay?”

“Sure thing,” Freya replied.

With that, Freya dismissed Zoe. She was done with the conversation.

As Zoe walked away, Louisa Butler, the heiress of the Butler family, who was handing Freya a cup of coffee, casually commented, “You’re really gonna help that woman? She’s got a pretty shady reputation. And if Daniel finds out you’re meddling, he’s gonna be pissed.”

Freya took a sip of her coffee and let out a light laugh. “I just asked her to make me cakes. When did I ever say I’d help her?”

Louisa was momentarily speechless, then let out a wry smile. “You’re just as crafty as Benjamin. By the way, how’s Benjamin doing? Is he awake yet?”

Freya shook her head, saying, “No clue. I’ll go see him in a couple of days.”

Noticing Freya’s plan to visit, Louisa couldn’t resist her nosy nature. “Hey, when are you and Benjamin finally getting hitched? I’m itching to be your bridesmaid!”

As the heiress of the Wilson family, Freya was not only drop-dead gorgeous but also incredibly capable.

Currently, she took charge of most of the Wilson Group’s affairs.

In high-society circles, there were hordes of people eager to marry into the Wilson family. Bob, who was once engaged to Mabel, had initially tried his luck with Freya for a while, but he didn’t stand a chance.

Freya had high standards, and over the years, Benjamin was the only one who’d caught her fancy.

In Louisa’s eyes, they were a match made in heaven, with similar family backgrounds, good looks, and abilities.

Their marriage seemed inevitable.

Yet, Freya kept mum on Louisa’s question.

Meanwhile, in the black Mercedes G-Class on the way back to Averton, Nina, who had been engrossed in cartoons, dozed off in Benjamin’s arms.

As she slept, her chubby little hands were balled into fists.

Her head rested on Benjamin’s arm, and her chubby, sleeping face was right within his line of sight.

There was a sweet, soft fragrance that was uniquely little-girlish about her.

Benjamin gazed down at her for a long time.

Every now and then, his eyes would also flit to Amelia’s face as she leaned on his shoulder.
