Miracle Cutie (Amelia and Benjamin) novel Chapter 43

Chapter 43 Under a Spell

Despite the presence of Benjamin beside her, Amelia was doing her best to act as if he weren’t there.

Meanwhile, Nina, perched on Amelia’s lap, sniffled and cast curious glances at Benjamin.

“Why you here?” Nina’s chubby face was damp, looking so forlorn that it tugged at the heartstrings

Benjamin wasn’t taken in by her adorable facade.

“I’m going home,” he stated matter-of-factly.

It took a moment for Nina to process that the place she now called home was also her dad’s

The little tot puffed out her cheeks, realizing she had no choice but to go back with her dad since they were all headed there.

“Lotsa toy!” Nina suddenly piped up, tilting her head back and spreading her tiny hands wide to emphasize the quantity.

Benjamin was left scratching his head. “What?”

Amelia, being the ever-understanding mom, instantly grasped what her little girl was trying to convey

Nina was marking her territory, saying the home was hers because it was full of her toys

But she chose not to explain it to Benjamin.

Even when Benjamin shot her a questioning look, she feigned ignorance.

The car pulled away, driven by the chauffeur.

Amelia cradled Nina on her lap, her complexion a shade paler than usual.

Nina, with her back to her mom, was craning her neck to peer forward.

Being so young, she was full of wiggles during car rides.

“Be good, baby,” Amelia reminded her every now and then.

Just as Amelia was focused intently on her daughter, Benjamin’s deep, resonant voice cut through the silence. “You’re bleeding

“It’s okay I’ll fix it when I get home,” Amelia replied automatically.

After that, her lashes fluttered, and she averted her gaze even more

Turning his head, Benjamin fixed his cold eyes on Amelia, who seemed to be putting as much space between them as possible.

“Scared of me?” he asked.

“N-Not scared,” Amelia shot back reflexively.

But the fear was evident on her pretty face.

Finished

Benjamin fell silent. That sight of her brought back memories of that fateful night three years ago.

The room was bathed in a dim glow.

Amelia’s body burned with an intense heat. She’d reached out to him boldly, yet her hands trembled,

At first, Benjamin had every intention of pushing her away.

He’d had his fair share of women throwing themselves at him and loathed it.

But just as he was about to shove her off in disgust, her eyes caught his attention.

Amelia had the kind of eyes that could stop a man in his tracks, with long, thick lashes that fluttered like the wings of a butterfly.

Benjamin was momentarily spellbound by those tear-brimming eyes.

Two seconds later, Amelia’s lips pressed against Benjamin’s.

Benjamin, who had always kept a cold distance from women, felt like he was under a spell. All his self- control went up in flames right then and there.

In an instant, he took charge, guiding Amelia onto the bed.

As his body loomed over hers, Amelia quivered with fear from head to toe.

As he looked at Amelia sitting beside him now, Benjamin’s mind drifted back to that night.

Without a word more, he rummaged through his backpack, pulled out a cotton swab for staunching blood, and offered it to Amelia.

“Stem the blood first,” he said flatly.

“Okay,” Amelia responded softly.

She was scared that Nina might spot the blood, so she’d been covering the wound with a thin jacket the whole time.

The journey back was a long haul, over five hours by car.

In the backseat, Nina squirmed around and let out little whimpers.

Amelia was too worn out to keep Nina entertained all the way.

So, she whipped out her phone and played Nina’s favorite cartoon.

The moment the cartoon started, Nina quieted down.

Nina reached out for the phone, but Amelia held it back.

“Be a good girl and sit still. Don’t get too close,” Amelia told her.

Then, Amelia held the phone herself and placed it about a couple of feet away so Nina could watch.
