Miracle Cutie (Amelia and Benjamin) novel Chapter 433

Chapter 433 That Didn’t Seem Like Him At All

Benjamin’s trip abroad this time was entirely because of Lester’s actions.

So, because of the bad blood between Benjamin and Lester, Amelia already had some preconceived notions about Lester before ever meeting him.

Amelia didn’t like anyone Benjamin didn’t like, or anyone who targeted him either!

“Did Lester do something else to upset you?” Amelia guessed.

Benjamin grunted in affirmation.

He didn’t hide his emotions from Amelia. He was openly expressing his feelings.

Hearing his response, Amelia assumed Lester had targeted him in business again.

“What’s this guy’s deal?” Amelia frowned, her heart aching for Benjamin. “Benjamin, don’t be upset. Let’s not let him ruin our mood.”

Amelia did her best to soothe him, but it wasn’t very effective.

Benjamin held her hand for a long moment before finally saying, “I need to go out for a bit. Wait for me at home. If you’re tired, take a nap, okay?”

Amelia hesitated, then nodded.

After Benjamin stood up, Amelia did too.

She rose on her tiptoes and planted two kisses on his lips.

“Benjamin, come back soon. And don’t be unhappy.”

Benjamin said, “Alright.”

He kissed her back twice.

While they were sharing their goodbyes, Trevor and Grace, who had also been there earlier, had long since left.

Nelson had run off to play with Nina, and they’d probably be out all day.

They said they’d come pick him up when Nelson got back.

This was, after all, Catherine’s estate. Trevor knew Catherine wasn’t exactly the hospitable type.

Even with Catherine not home, Trevor knew better than to overstay his welcome.

The adults went their separate ways-some home, some out. Meanwhile, at Anthony’s place, Nina was sleeping soundly, her tiny hands clutching Lester’s shirt.

Lester didn’t take her inside to a room.

He just held her while she slept outside.

Nelson, worried Nina might get cold, asked a servant for a small blanket.

“Cover her tummy,” Nelson instructed, telling Lester to make sure her belly was wrapped up.

Lester took the blanket, raising an eyebrow.

Seeing how good Nelson was at this, he asked, “Do you have a little brother or sister?”

Nelson was silent for a second. “No,” he said.

He had no brothers or sisters. And he didn’t want any.

His dad was terrible with kids. He’d just found his mom again, and he wasn’t ready to share her with a sibling.

So, he was against the idea.

Lester found it interesting that Nelson was so against having siblings himself but took such good care of Nina.

He was about to ask something else when Nelson turned the tables and asked him a question.

“Have you taken care of a kid before?”

Nelson had noticed how naturally Lester handled Nina.

When Nina had fussed a little in her sleep earlier, Lester had bounced his leg gently, patted her back, and made soft, comforting sounds-exactly the way Amelia did.

When asked, Lester was about to say no, but then he remembered the flash of childhood memory from earlier that day.

That hazy memory definitely involved him taking care of a kid.

With that in mind, the denial on the tip of his tongue changed to an admission.

“Yeah, probably have.”

And if that memory was correct, the kid he’d taken care of was even harder to handle than the one in his arms now.

The memory itself was fuzzy, but the feeling it evoked was strong.

He remembered a powerful sense of exhaustion, helplessness, and being utterly worn out by that uncooperative baby.

Strangely, he hadn’t disliked the child. That didn’t seem like him at all.

Usually, anything or anyone that tried his patience like that earned his disgust.

“Who was the kid you took care of?” Nelson pressed, determined to stay awake and keep an eye on Nina.
