Chapter 398 Filled Him With Regret

“Grandma, play?” Nina invited Catherine to play.

Catherine didn’t know how to play with children.

After a few seconds of silence, she asked, “What toys do you need?”

She couldn’t be a playmate herself, so she planned to buy some toys instead.

Hearing about buying toys, Nina didn’t hold back at all.

She wanted cars, bubbles, and a whole list of things.

Catherine listened silently. Finally, when Nina said she wanted to watch cartoons, Catherine got up and fetched a tablet.

“What cartoon do you want to watch?” Catherine asked, opening a streaming site.

She handed the tablet to Nina to choose.

Nina took the tablet and began poking the screen randomly with her chubby fingers.

She tapped away for a while, making the page a mess.

Nina wasn’t trying to pick a cartoon; she was just poking for fun.

Catherine saw this.

So, she took the tablet back and didn’t let Nina poke anymore.

Catherine chose a cartoon herself.

By sheer luck, the one she picked was a big hit with Nina.

Nina happily held the tablet to watch.

She held it very close to her face.

Her little face was practically pressed against the screen.

The proximity made Catherine frown.

“You’re too close,” she said.

Though she was only three years older than Sienna, she’d started caring for Sienna from a

She had some experience.

Catherine took the tablet back and held it herself, letting Nina sit and watch.

Nina sat still obediently… for about a minute. Then she couldn’t sit still

anymore.

She leaned against Catherine, shifting to a more comfortable position to keep watching.

Nina didn’t talk while watching, but her little body was restless.

She leaned into Catherine’s lap, then flopped sideways across the pillow.

Catherine held the tablet, letting her squirm.

The two stayed like that on the soft bed. Meanwhile, after considerable effort, Nelson had finally gotten Violet to a hospital.

He’d flagged down a kind stranger’s car.

Once in the car, he borrowed a phone and called Trevor.

Nelson had an excellent memory.

He remembered Trevor’s number, and he’d memorized Amelia’s, too.

The adults back home received the call and rushed over immediately.

Nelson turned back before the adults arrived.

“Nina? Nina, where are you?” he called, returning to the spot where he’d left her. He had come back to get her.

But when he got there, Nina was gone.

All he found were her little shoe and her sock.

Nina disappeared.

“Nina!” Nelson yelled, his voice filled with panic.

‘He was terrified she’d been captured again.

Nelson couldn’t find her. The Graham family, who had raced over upon getting the news, couldn’t find her either.

William hadn’t slept a wink since hearing the news.

After arriving, he took personal charge of the investigation.

Xavier’s mind was full of schemes. He’d laid backup plan upon backup plan.

But he’d severely underestimated William.

William and Trevor were not to be trifled with.

No matter how many layers Xavier hid behind, it was useless.

They had already zeroed in on Xavier and sent people to “invite” him for a chat.

But while they were fetching Xavier, Nina had gone missing a second time.

This infuriated William.

William had moved incredibly fast, but no one had anticipated that Nina, Nelson, and Violet would escape even faster.

If she had escaped just a little later, William and Benjamin would have found her by now.

With Nina missing again, William’s face was like ice. He intensified the search.

At the hospital, Trevor learned that Nina still hadn’t been found.

He looked at Nelson, who had returned, and frowned slightly. “How did she get lost again?”

Nelson clenched his little fists.
