Chapter 289 Warm and Sweet Time
“I hit him,” Nina said, even waving her little hand as she spoke.
But she didn’t hit William.
Nina never hit William.

She didn’t hit people much older or much younger than her because Amelia said she could really hurt them.
If she hurt someone, the police would come and take her to jail.
Nina didn’t really understand what “jail” meant.
Amelia explained for ages before summarizing, “Jail is where they lock you up. You wouldn’t be able to see me anymore or sleep with me.”
Nina was very afraid of not being able to see Amelia, so she was also afraid of the police taking her away.
To avoid being taken by the police, Nina had learned to be more selective with her slaps.
“Grandpa, not die,” Nina babbled at the end, saying something no one understood.
William pressed for details, but Nina just kept repeating “not die.”
Unable to get a clear answer, William finally gave up.
Once home, Nina was busy again, talking to the nannies and the dogs. With her occupied, William had no chance to question her further.
As time passed, Nina made up with Amelia before bed.
“Mommy, hold me?” she asked, worn out from the day and now calm.
Amelia picked her up and kissed her chubby cheek.
“Mommy, I love you,” the unusually calm Nina murmured, snuggling against Amelia’s chest, her fleshy little face nuzzling Amelia as she expressed her love,
Amelia’s heart melted. “Mommy loves you, too.”
The two exchanged “I love you” and kisses. Benjamin, seemingly oblivious, remained nearby.
He wasn’t looking at the bed, but he was busy folding Nina’s little clothes by the bedside.

Nina had more clothes than she could ever wear, with too many people buying them for her.
Noticing Benjamin, Amelia patted Nina’s chubby bottom and whispered in her ear, “Nina, go hug Daddy. He’s working for you.”
Nina, having her bottom patted, giggled.
Then she climbed up and walked to the edge of the bed. “Daddy!”
When Benjamin looked over calmly, Nina, smiling, suddenly jumped.
The next second, Benjamin’s large hands caught her securely.
Nina knew he would catch her.
She wrapped her arms around his neck and planted loud kisses on his cheek. “Daddy, I love you.”
This time, her “love you” didn’t sound off the cuff; it felt like genuine affection in the moment.
Benjamin looked down at her little face for a long moment, then suddenly leaned down and kissed her twice.
The family of three enjoyed their warm and sweet time together.
Meanwhile, Daniel, who had bought the roast piglet but got beaten up by Benjamin before he could even bring it back, was on the phone with Alice, complaining pitifully.
He said, “Benjamin is truly inhuman. I’m his only brother, and he hits me every day. Someone like him will be single forever. He’ll never win Amelia over.”
William knew about Amelia and Benjamin’s relationship, but Daniel seemed completely clueless.
Seeing his obliviousness, Alice almost felt sorry for his lack of perception.
She thought Daniel was nice, just not the sharpest tool in the shed.
The two chatted, mixing speech with sign language, managing to keep the conversation going.
Since Daniel didn’t know about Amelia and Benjamin, Alice didn’t spill the beans.
A peaceful night passed at the Graham Residence.
And Michael, who had clashed with Nina the day before, spent a sleepless night before finally remembering who Nina was.
