Miracle Cutie (Amelia and Benjamin) novel Chapter 146

Chapter 146 Benjamin’s Breaking Point

Nina kicked and screamed, refusing to let the doctor hot her.

William stood beside them, his own eyes already red.

Finished

Back when he was younger and got hurt in the field, there was no hospital. He’d cleaned and stitched the wound himself using what was in his first-aid kit.

He hadn’t used the anesthetic. Not a single tear had fallen.

The pain had been real, but he’d swallowed it whole. In his mind, a man crying was just pathetic.

Yet right now, watching Nina sob in the doctor’s arms, the tears he’d never shed for himself welled up uncontrollably.

“Nina, don’t cry-” he said.

The doctor cut him off, “Sir, she needs to cry right now. Tears help flush the sand out. Crying is actually the right thing at this moment.”

William instantly changed his tune. “Okay, Nina, cry a little more then. Once the sand’s gone, we’ll stop, okay?”

After comforting Nina, William turned to the staff member who had carried her out.

He asked, “Tell me exactly what happened. Who threw the sand?”

The staff member noticed the two men standing behind William-one of them had just made a call to get the hospital ready for Nina.

And William himself? The aura rolling off him screame power. This wasn’t his average rich guy.

The staff member had seen plenty of wealthy people here, but few carried themselves as William did.

Sensing William’s status, he immediately began explaining, “Mr. Jimmy Dorsey has a very close friend named Peter Rickman. Peter has a six-year-old brother named Alan. Jimmy brings Alan to the ranch sometimes.

“Alan comes pretty often now.

“Today, it was Alan who threw the sand. He snatched your little girl’s pink spade and gave it to another girl. When she tried to take it back, he pushed her down.

“Your granddaughter pushed him back once. He got ma and, when none of us were looking, grabbed two handfuls of sand and threw them in her face.

“I’m truly sorry. This was my failure on the job!

“If you want to hold me responsible, I’ll take whatever comes.”

The staff member apologized and even offered compensation.

William didn’t want money. He had Martin call Benjamin, then handed the phone to the staff member. “Repeat everything you just told me.”

Chapter 146 Benjamins Breaking Point

Fintshed

The staff member had no idea who was on the other end, but he obeyed and repeated it word for word.

Benjamin was already in his office by then. He heard every detail and in the background, Nina’s heartbroken walls.

She was crying so hard.

He could’ve sworn he heard her sob “Daddy…

Halfway through the call, Benjamin was already on his fet.

By the time it ended, he was in the elevator heading down to his car.

His assistant saw him leave and didn’t dare ask a single question, much less try to stop him.

Moments later, Benjamin’s car sped down the road.

Inside, Benjamin dialed Jack with a blank expression.

He said coldly, “You come to the hospital. Tell your brother to call Peter. And bring Peter and his brother.”

The second those words left his mouth, Jack-who’d been about to tease him-dropped every trace of humor.

“Benjamin, what happened?” he asked.

Benjamin didn’t answer. He simply hung up.

Hearing the call disconnect, Jack frowned and headed toward the private lounge inside his office.

Jimmy was resting there right now.

He’d been sick recently. He was better these past couple of days, but Jack still kept him glued to his side like a worried mother hen.

“Jimmy.” Jack touched his forehead the moment he walked in.

Only after confirming there was no fever did the frown return full force.

He snapped, “Are you still in contact with that Peter? Did you forget everything I told you? Are you trying to get him killed?”

The threat was blatant. Jimmy leaned against the headboard, his pale, delicate face twisting with anger.

“Try touching him and see what happens!

“Why can’t I talk to him? I already told you-I like him!

“Do you think I’m some kind of freak? If that’s what you think, then stay out of my life!
