“Nina, can you be my little sister? You can live at my home.”
Lucien was practically dying for Nina to be his little sister.

Even though Nina had just showered him with praise, the idea of becoming someone else’s kid was a hard
“No live here. Go home to Mommy! Want Mommy!”
Lucien let out a dramatic “Fineeee.”
His attempt to take Nina home failed, but he wasn’t discouraged.
With Nina in tow, he wandered off again.
Morris Villa was packed today with way too many people.
Right then, Freya finally ran into Benjamin.
The two of them started chatting like old friends. Freya got straight to the point, all smiles. “Nina is adorable. How’s the new-dad life treating you?”
Benjamin answered in his usual flat tone, sounding like he didn’t care much. “It’s fine.”
Freya grinned. “So when are you throwing that celebration banquet for little Nina?”
Benjamin shrugged. “In a bit.”
Freya took a sip of champagne, the smile never leaving her eyes. “You and Nina’s mom… planning to make up for the wedding you never had? If you do, give me a heads-up. I gotta pick out a killer newlywed gift.”
Benjamin’s voice stayed cool. “No need to go through all that trouble.”
He was clearly telling her not to bother with the gift.
But he didn’t outright deny the wedding part.
In that split second, Freya got the message loud and clear.
“That’s rare,” she murmured, swirling her glass with a teasing lilt. “So the legendary Benjamin actually fell in love.”
She’d honestly thought this ice-cold man, who’d been emotionally unavailable since diapers, would stay single forever. Guess she was wrong.
Just as they were talking, Mia showed up in a cute lemon-yellow dress.
“Hi, Freya.” She was supposedly coming for Freya, but her eyes were glued to Benjamin.
Benjamin didn’t even let her get close. The moment he heard her voice, he stood up and bailed.
“Gonna go check on Nina. You two catch up,” he said.
Freya just waved. “Sure, go ahead.”

She watched him leave, then turned to Mia with a polite smile. “Mia, what’s up? Looking for me?”
Mia scooted closer and immediately went into spoiled-little-sister mode. “It’s nothing big… By the way, what were you and Benjamin talking about?”
Freya acted like she didn’t notice the fishing attempt. “We were talking about Nina’s mom. When Benjamin and Nina’s mom finally ties the knot, little Nina can totally be the flower girl. That kid is so cute, she’d be perfect for it.”
Freya kept smiling as she painted a happy family picture.
Mia’s manicured nails dug hard into her palms.
She urged, “Benjamin is really going to throw together a wedding? He actually has feelings for Nina’s mom?! That woman is just some D-list celebrity with zero fame-she’s obviously after his money!
“Freya, you’re so close with Benjamin. You can’t just watch him get scammed. You have to warn him! Don’t let that no-name actress trick him!”
Mia was practically begging Freya to break them up.
Freya looked at overly serious Mia, sighed softly, and answered, “Mia, I’ve told you a million times- whether you speak or act, always keep your grace. You can’t badmouth people behind their backs.”
“Freya, I’m not bad-mouthing! That Amelia-Nina’s mom-she’s the one who’s shady! She had rumors with Daniel. Just Google it, it’s everywhere.
“She was linked to Daniel and then had Benjamin’s baby Don’t you think she’s super calculating?”
Mia cut Freya off and kept trash-talking Amelia nonstop She even dragged out Zoe’s so-called testimony to prove Amelia was trash.
Freya still wasn’t buying it.
“Mia, I haven’t met Nina’s mom yet, but I’ve met Nina. That baby is genuinely adorable, and I love her to bits. So I’m pretty sure her mom is lovely too.”
Freya meant every word.
Most kids didn’t really move her, but something about Nina made her heart melt the moment she saw her.
Looking at that chubby little face, she couldn’t help thinking of her most treasured, most beloved little sister -Mia.
Back then, one look at Mia and her heart turned into pulding.
