Love in the Limelight novel Chapter 576

The chat was buzzing with comments:

"What on earth was that? The contestant did a good job with the sculpture. Who does Astrid think she is, giving it a two?"

"The other judges didn't score it that low. Is she just trying to stand out?"

"Just watching her makes me annoyed."

"I used to like her a little, but now I've turned from a fan to a critic!"

"Wasn't she flaunting her relationship with Mr. Landon earlier today? She should just stick to being a CEO's wife and stay out of the entertainment industry."

"…"

Meanwhile, in the living room, Jon was grumbling loudly at the TV. In stark contrast, the subject of his frustration, Astrid, was lounging on the hotel sofa, playing a puzzle game on her phone.

The level had just been released that evening, and it didn't take Astrid long to breeze through it. Feeling a bit bored, she stretched and was about to dive back into her script when a knock came at the door.

Peeking through the peephole, she saw Linda standing there.

Well, well.

As soon as Astrid opened the door, Linda flashed a smile. "Astrid, you're back? Some of the young actors from the film crew are having a little get-together. Since we're neighbors, they asked me to invite you along."

"I'm pretty tired, so I'll pass. You guys have fun," Astrid replied, turning to close the door.

But then Linda added, "Oh, Selena's there too. Poor thing can't hold her liquor—she's already tipsy after just two beers."

Astrid turned back, catching the calculating glint in Linda’s eyes.

Linda was trying to manipulate her using Selena.

Astrid replied curtly, "No."

Linda pressed on, "And are you really together with Mr. Lampard now?"

At the mention of Elio, Astrid glanced sideways at her. "We have a four-year-old son together. Isn't it obvious?"

Linda continued, "You have a child, yet Mr. Lampard hasn't held a wedding? Is it because Amanda and Matthew Lampard don't approve of you?"

"I’ve heard being a high society wife is tough. I know someone who had three sons and still couldn't marry into wealth. The family wouldn't acknowledge her—it's sad."

"People's places in society are set from birth…"

Fed up with Linda’s rambling, Astrid cut her off, "It's not that Elio won't marry me; it's that I’m not ready to marry him. And don’t flaunt your superiority here. When it comes to family background, if your father met mine, he'd be crawling on the ground!"
