“The academy isn’t a permanent place for anyone, it’s for studying, or working, but if you plan to stay there for long, it’s not going to be a comfortable stay,” Uncle Damian explains to me.

“How long do you have to stay there?” I ask them next.

“Depends on your age and when you have joined, you could be a child and join it and you’d stay for a much longer time than you do if you join at the age of eighteen. It’s also completely different between born wolves and mates,” Uncle Damian keeps on explaining.

“I joined when I was eighteen, I’ll be serving in the academy for four years, and then I can move on with my life, either stay in the military or move back home,” Mariano says.

“What about us?” I ask pointing at me and my mate friend.

“Three years,” Both Uncle Damian and Mariano answer at the same time.

“My stomach will die if we keep eating this food for three years,” Nutmeg says and I agree with her, the food is miserable.

“You get to go out in the weekends, make the beta cook for you,” Mariano says.

“And we’ll sneak you off as much as possible,” Uncle Damian assures me making me giggle, so we have a plan at least.

“I like this plan, can I invite Rosie? Oliver said she asked him to keep an eye on us and help us out if needed, can she join for lunch?” Nutmeg asks.

“Doesn’t she have school?” Uncle Damian asks confused.

“Nope, school ended, she’s home with her mother,” Nutmeg says.

“Why isn’t she with her pack?” he asks out loud, it was more of wondering out loud, not expecting an answer.

“She’s here to be near her siblings, they are jerks most days and were shipped off to military school at fourteen, but she’s very attached to them,” Nutmeg answers him, since she knows her a lot more than I do.

“And since I’m around, I pledged to keep her safe,” Mariano adds.

“Don’t you have an omega?” I ask Uncle Damian.

“No, the goddess has never sent one over to our pack, maybe in the days before mine,” Uncle Damian answers me honestly.

We got to the restaurant and ordered while waiting for Rosie and Roxie, we ordered both girls some food along with us, we ate like we have never seen food before, all of us were starving even Rosie.

“Doesn’t your mother feed you?” Mariano asks Rosie.

“She does, but I don’t like eating alone, and mom is busy most days and the boys don’t get to come home often,” she whines and keeps on eating.

“You got Roxie at least, and we’ll be home on the weekends and we’ll spend time together,” I assure her.

“Also, we should bully your brother into telling us what grade they gave us in the PE,” Nutmeg says.

“Girl, we got the whole teacher sitting here, we’ll make him tell us,” I say, pointing to Uncle Damian.

“Do you need a ride back home? Who brought you here?” Mariano asks Rosie.

“One of the patrol drove me here, and they said they’ll be near,” Rosie says blushing.
