Levent POV
She was starting to get tired, she managed to run ninety percent of the day, but then I saw her slowing down, she moved from the front of the line at the begining of the day, and then moved to the middle and right now, she’s behind, she’s done with the day, she’s exhausted.
And this is why we don’t allow everyone to run patrols, she’s not the youngest person to run patrol but she’s small like Flower is, but she’s related to the alpha, I guess that’s why she’s allowed to run along with them.
Everything in me said to keep on running, to keep on moving to run faster and leave her behind, she got nothing to do with any of this, she’s not my problem, but seeing her struggle, I had to help her, it’s how my wolf think and how my human side would react always. I slowed down and started to walk slowly next to her, she looked at me and pretended to be okay while she was suffering, trying to keep on moving, but she’d stop every two step to catch her breath.
I saw the wolves in front snap and growl at her, she’s keeping them behind, I looked at Emmalynn and nodded to her, telling her that I’m okay staying with her, they can finish their patrol and I’ll make sure she gets back home safely.
After they left she turned to me angrily, she huffed and puffed at me, but she was so exhausted that she ended up sitting on the ground, and I sat near her, waiting for her to gather her energy back so we can keep on moving. I waited for her for fifteen minutes maybe and then she was ready to go again, and so we moved, she walked slowly toward the alpha’s home.

We made it there in forty minutes, she had to rest a couple times but we made it finally, the two of us walked into the house and she
crashed again, falling face first on the ground, she whined and groaned even in her sleep.
“She had a good day?” the alpha asks coming toward me, and I just nod in my wolf form.
“Want to come in? Have a cup of coffee? Or maybe scotch?” he offers, and the alcohol sounded good, so I decided to shift back to my human form, the pain was still there when I shifted back and forth, but it’s getting less every time I do it, I’m sure in a week or so, it won’t hurt at all just like it used to four years ago.
“I’ll take your finest alcohol offer,” I say, answering him for the offer, he guided me inside, leaving the sleeping wolf outside.
“Is she going to be okay?” I ask him worried about her.
“She’ll be fine, at least she made it home this time,” he says with a
chuckle.
“So what’s Noelle’s story?” I ask him.
“What do you mean?” he asks pouring us two generous glasses.
“I mean what’s up with her? She’s not strong enough to run patrols, and still you’re allowing her to, the other guys don’t care about leaving her behind, and it’s not safe for her,” I say lifting an eye at him.
“Are you challenging me Levent?” the alpha asks me in a warning
tone.
“No, I’m too miserable to challenge anything,” I say with a sigh taking a sip of my drink, four years ago, I’d never challenge my alpha’s decision, but today, I’m feeling wild.

“You’re taking the miserable act too far,” he says shaking his head but I just shrug at him, if he says so.
