Aggressive sharks like tiger sharks and great whites might attack humans, but they usually wouldn't bother eating them.
However, most of the onlookers here weren't aware of this tidbit. So, they genuinely believed that the sharks were man-eaters hunting for a snack.
As a result, everyone became agitated, and screams filled the air, adding a chaotic brush to the already disorderly scene.
The closer the sharks swam to them, the louder the crowd became. Naturally, Bruno became even more terrified.
Since Tessa had spoken and Stephen had achieved his goal of punishing Bruno, he nodded slightly and said, "Alright."
Then, he ordered a small inflatable boat and a life vest to be thrown overboard. Once the rope was lowered, he instructed two of his guards to haul Bruno up.
Although barely a few minutes had passed since Bruno had been tossed overboard and rescued, it felt like several decades of torment had assaulted his body, soul, and mind.
Frankly, it felt as though he barely made it out of the gates of Hell.
Although he had been rescued, the terror he had experienced left his nerves frayed. As a result, he continued to tremble like a leaf despite finally standing on stable ground. His lips were a deathly shade of pale blue as he cried, "Save me! Please don't feed me to the sharks! I'm really sorry!"
It looked as if he'd gone mad.
Meanwhile, Cassidy had been scared witless.
Her knees refused to support her weight as she shook uncontrollably. Fear gripped her heart as she thought in horror, "Would I end up like Bruno if I chose not to accept Tessa's proposal? Would Stephen make me swim with the sharks, too?"
Those who harbored nothing but resentment and hate for Bruno and Cassidy eagerly whipped out their phones to record the entire thing.
What qualified as a good show, one may ask? This had everything a good show needed.
Thus, they couldn't possibly allow themselves to miss out on such a historical event!
Marissa's heart was far from happy.
She looked at Tessa with red-rimmed eyes and pleaded, "Tessa, I had no idea that Bruno and Cassidy had it out of you. I didn't invite them onboard on purpose."
Tessa patted Marissa's hand gently and murmured kindly, "I know. I trust you."
Marissa blinked dumbly as a flicker of disbelief flared in her eyes. "Y-You do?"
Stephen, whom she had been in love with for over seven years, didn't believe her. Yet, her rival in love did?
The bodyguard immediately dragged Bruno away.
After a while, the cruise ship's manager approached Stephen and murmured something in his ear.
Once Stephen gave him an affirmative nod, the manager announced loudly, "Alright, show's over! Please continue to eat, drink, and enjoy yourselves!"
The crowd eventually dispersed.
Soon, only Stephen, Tessa, Marissa, and a few of Tessa's friends remained on deck.
Marissa sobbed as she apologized sincerely. "I'm so sorry, Tessa. You've suffered because of my negligence."
Tessa responded calmly, "You didn't mean to, so stop blaming yourself."
Marissa's eyes were still red as she continued, "Although this was an accident, it still happened because of my mistakes. I should've ensured that people like Bruno were barred from boarding in the first place."
Tessa replied, "He's already paid for his mistakes, so you should stop crying. In fact, you should freshen up and fix your makeup. You still have a party waiting for you later tonight, remember? Don't let something like this ruin your fun. It's your birthday today. You should be happy."
Marissa's voice was still choked up as she nodded and said, "Okay."
